It would need trialing but while it wouldn’t be perfect I’d rather an interpretation issue over just lots of things being missed issues..whereby a result can be affected....Some teams ARE and we’ve seen this in games not involving Dublin too but they are attempting to systematically use tactical fouling to stop the momentum and progress of their opponents.... this poxy toxic fûcking arm grab that isn’t entering the game by accident more by teams deciding that when they are in trouble they won’t attempt to narrow a gap on the scoreboard by fair means, they’ll try and prevent their opposition progressing by foul means.
Teams who are fit, fast and agile in turning defense into attack in milliseconds are victimized by these ‘tactics’ because their opposition do not feel they can stop them by fair means.... so they foul, arm grab, systematically whereby the free is given up around the middle of the field or in the opposition half so said team can regroup, re-mark, slow down, think and breathe...also this sneaky arm grab foul seems to be rather more difficult for referees to spot....if referees could be better positioned to keep up with play in ‘their’ half, sorted or should be.
As is now the individual running the line only really gets to report on foul play after a whistle goes.... it’s not like soccer where they raise their flag during play if anything breaching the rules is seen to happen.
As Dublin supporters it’s really I see it beneficial for us... our team because of the wealth of talent don’t need these tactics and we’ve seen us come up against it when the refs arnt on top of this sort of craic...
Pillar took Ryan off in that 2006 SF I seem to remember when Dublin looked like they had it?
Edit: he does not look like Ryan was taken off Andy Moran left Ryaner on his arse at 50ish gone when he got a goal.
I am looking forwards to the next Dublin v Mayo installment anyway. They nearly always seem to be great games (will write last year off as an exception to the rule)
I am hoping that by then they might even consider raising the attendance beyond the proposed 23k if the Covid situation is more under control as even more are vaccinated by that stage. If Enda Kenny/Bertie Ahern was in charge I think there would be more hope of an exception made!
I might as well throw in a few Dublin v Mayo links:
Ryan was immense in the first half of that game. As I remember it, he drove Dublin on in that game, practically single handedly and he was wrecked halfway through second half. Rather then take him off, he was moved onto Andy Moran who got the goal. That was one of the worst defeats I can remember!
That match was the worst I can remember
That game was an absolute cracker from a neutral pov. Still one of my favourites from a purely footballing perspective.
I just wanted Themmuns to lose in the final. But it wasn't to be.
I feel like this year will be the same outcome.
Look like it was hacked?
From the Twitter machine.
Based on that, I would hope we'll see it return before long.
Looks like the hill is open for semi final
233 in the queue in front of me... Seems going in randomly of a Wednesday morning is how you get tickets these days. Shambles.
Or not at all!?????
Anyone have any luck with ticketmaster? still in a Q here. fingers crossed
If it's a financial thing I would be happy to help out. I was a contributor to the site many years ago but backed away. I am still a daily viewer and think it's a great site. If anyone knows if I can help and wants to drop me a PM that would be great.
Not at all. I've been in and out all morning and not a sniff.
Is it not a bit mental, of all the counties, to put Dublin on general sale? Tbh, I was glad they were on sale so I could get tickets for Leinster games for the missus but surely it makes more sense to go through the clubs so members are almost guaranteed tickets?
I only see the hurling semis available. Anyone got a lead on when the football semis go on sale?
They've only just gone up. Hopefully the Dublin tickets will follow soon enough.
With no ST this year, there's very little scope outside of a general sale.
I get that. But if it goes through the clubs, you're pretty much guaranteed your ticket. Club takes names, tells county board who tell croke park how many they need and they get sent out. Any left over goes on general sale.
Not leaving lads like yourself scrambling for tickets.
I really hope the ST is back next season tbh. Bloody disaster not knowing if I'll get a ticket for these games.
I know one large Dublin club is only being allocated about 80 to 90 tickets so there will be a draw tomorrow. No physical tickets just online purchase and downloading. Can’t see general sale until all the club allocations are used up.
As someone who's a tri-club refugee. I only have the ST as my outlet.
With the hurling going on sale only today I would imagine it will be next week before these go live.
Massive queue online now. Anyone know are the football semis up now?
It ain't for the football anyway. Only the hurling SFs are up there atm.
Thanks. I'll release myself from the torment. Thanks
What is worse now for tickets when they do go on sale is that Dublin vs Mayo ladies football match is the curtain raiser.
Is there any indication as to when they will go up?
I'm still sore about that 2006 Mayo game myself, never left Croker so bitter. Gas stuff. In a perverse way, it was more enjoyable following the Dubs during the barren spells.
Looked earlier queue over 5k thought something happening but just hurling came up .Wish I knew at least the day they might be on I know the odds are against me getting them but even so .
Back up now
Good stuff! Thanks.
Question on how the pods work for the tickets - if there's a pod of 3 people, I presume all 3 don't need to enter the turnstyles at the same time?
