I don't think many here who've been in for a while doubt there being an inevitable return to a proper multi year bear market, and no two bull runs will be the same. It would still just be extremely surprising to see it play out as you're expecting/predicting here in 'a few weeks', we'd want to be getting a move on with hitting that final parabolic blow off top for that to happen I think
I work in market infrastructure, there's actually shag all proper institutional investment compared to traditional financial instruments, but I guess it's better than nothing, and indeed it's somewhat increasing. If nothing dramatic happens, I don't see BTC going much below 20k, or Eth below 500 in a prolonged bear. Have to see what happens with global regulators, they easily have the power to end a lot of this speculation fest.
You reckon all of crypto is a speculation fest?
By institutional investment I mean lots of big companies have crypto assets on their balance sheets, either directly or indirectly, and companies like visa/mc/paypal and now banks also getting involved. They seem to be realising that not having any exposure to crypto (or other non-usd based investments) is a risky strategy.
The above is quite positive and important I think. One large criticism of Tether in particular and stable coins in general has been that the are difficult (if not impossible) for the average user to redeem for actual cash.
With this announcement, there is now an easy way for USDC.
If there's any excitement to be had, boards is surely not the place to find it 😐️
Looks like Ethereum is making moves before tomorrows update. I would have thought it would go down in anticipation. Interesting stuff!

Disgusting the way those incompetents have destroyed this forum and all the others, 3 posts a day in the Share Picks thread, feel sorry for all the people in the Auld Ones and Auld Fellas forums for whom boards.ie was the whole internet, same for a good few lads in the farming forum, Im actually enraged every time I think of it.
Anyway no idea what ETH will do after the upgrade tonight, ETH will be getting burned from now on so hopefully scarcity drives up prices but it could also be a sell the news event and we go back below 2k, who knows? Ill just continue buying and hodling like always, hope they roll back this abomination and we can get back to discussing crypto properly sometime like we used to.
I think a bigger thing for eth with this upgrade is it should remove any ambiguity around gas prices so you'll know in advance what you'll have to pay. It's just another step along the path to improving the network. Happy they're not rushing through it.
I don't think the new boards site is bad either, although the week-long break might have lost a few people temporarily. I'm sure the Share Picks thread would have more posts if the discord wasn't set up.
I spent all of 10 minutes making a discord for this community. I do like the irish opinion on crypto (especially the likes of tax) so maybe it'll become populated and take off

The market is still uncertain. Look at google trends.

What do you think that shows?
Large price changes usually mean more searches. Less swings and people just talk less. If the upgrade happened in May more people would be talking.
Already a big discord here for all things investing with hundreds of members from Boards.

Apologies, fixed now.

Yeah same here, where would be best to move my crypto from Binance to?
I use revolut, so easy to buy and sell, literally takes a second and no need for trust wallet
Revolut not very high in fees?
You don’t ‘own’ any crypto on Revolut and can never transfer it off, only sell it. I get the impression you are buying from a pool they own and they fill it up in batches and that’s why it’s so fast. What protection do you have on there?
I don't use Revolut nor do I think it is a good platform to by crypto, but having said that I think they are in the process of rolling-out crypto withdrawals (as far as I remember they were to start with premium users in certain countries).
I'm not a trader, I'm purely investing by putting in a monthly amount and holding for at least 5 to 10 years so for that it is super convenient,
Have a look at the terms below
Cryptocurrency | Revolut IE
BTC has broken out....
Be happier if it breaks 43k - edit: oh i see it did break 43k very briefly and now broken again more strongly
I'm super super excited.
Link partnership confirmed with SWIFT
Rose tokenization available mid august
If Revolut were to go bust, as unlikely as it may seem, then your crypto would be lost.
As the saying goes - not your wallet, not your crypto
I just got a message about moving to gubu dot ie. It looks a much simpler site which boards used to be.
Think everyone else should pack their bags too.
What's hard to navigate about the new site at the minute? I found this forum in seconds by just searching Crypto and replied to this within a minute.
Are people just being stubborn at this stage or are people genuinely finding it difficult to find the forum?
