Part 2 takes the longest and that takes ~170mins. You cant drive while thats progressing.
Tried that a few times but doesn't seem to do anything...🙂
It can be driven while downloading, which I didn't get any prompt for. From what I read it will only download while driving. But it cannot be driven while installing (Which I got a prompt for) and all buttons and App are disabled.
thanks & from what @Rusky rusky says - i may hold off for now if it introduces more issues as the car has been solid since 2.1 so i may defer until i can no longer. does the update mean you can't drive the car while updating (you said that your radio stayed on when updating so expect is fully immobilsed)?
I had no warnings during the download of the 2nd update. I drove for 20 min and when turned the car off I had a notice on the screen that an update is available. I have installed it when returned back home. The update itself is cosmetic although full of bugs. The saved places menu is not working and the sound adjustments are not available.
You can also check for updates in the setting menu under software.
It certainly seems to be hit and miss atm..😕. Between mine downloading (part 1) and accepting install I had various warnings that some safety stuff was inactive. Did you get/still have any of that?
Edit. When you next turn on the car, the install prompt hopefully will be on the welcome screen..
Is everyone here who has the update a first mover, or is the update on general release now?
The update appeared this morning for me - i didn't confirm it as was popping into a shop & has not reappeared on my return home (2min drive)..
no problem with them. Should be working.
do they have solar and eco was turned on or possibly they have old firmware.
The dealer said he'd let me know when there's an update, now I'll email him Tuesday too remind him lol but I'd say if there was an update he'd have let me know.
What is the story with id3 and zappi? Went to visit friends and their Zappi stopped 3 times in 2 hours of charging? I don't have any times set nor they. Is there handshake problem between them?
Got the 2nd part download and installed after a short drive today. I guess “once a week” clause is only applicable to the 1st part of the update.
That must be the boat the dealer meant, all going well it will be here next week and hopefully it’s a case of no news is good news for anyone else with an overdue delivery.
I got the prompt last Thurs evening for 1st part of update, but had to wait until Fri morning to accept install due to battery being a bit low. Hence probably reason why I didn't get the second part.
Probably have to wait till next Thurs for main install..
According to BatteryLife, as you said, it checks once a week but it also does a check immediately after applying an update. If you ensure that you have the car in a good mobile signal area at the time and click OK on the message that pops up it will check for the next update there and then... if you miss that one, then you have to wait the week.
We haven’t been told if they have anyway. I wasnt in touch with dealer for two weeks.
Are you guy's cars released from production yet? The My Volkswagen system can't tell you but your dealer will be able to check.
Why do you think that?
Another boat due in at end of week. Electricus’ car should be on it anyway.
Unfortunately not, probably September now at this rate.
Downloaded after about 20 km driving. Yes more road signs are showing up but a bit hit and miss, sometimes they do sometimes they don’t.
Were you doing a lot of driving on the day the two parts were downloaded and installed? I am the same as Rusky rusky, waiting for the second part. But car only being used for very short commutes over the weekend.
Have you noticed more road signs showing on the recognition system?
Part 2 downloaded straight after part 1 was installed for me. Haven’t noticed any changes other than the home button and the background.
Ok, 1st part of the update was installed yesterday. Waiting for the 2nd one, although some reported that it might take a week as the car only pings the server once a week.
I was hoping your car and a few others here may have been on the recent ship, but obviously not
When I lifted off the throttle this morning near a rural school the car tried to slow up with regen to 15km/h. First time I have seen that limit on screen. Touching the accelerator over rules it of course
I think in the future it would be good if cars detect road signs and in the case of town and School zones will not allow you to go over the limit, sensible limits and on roads like I live that you have to stop and climb into the ditch to let cars pass, the speed is really scary.
In my old village People are driving at 80 Km/hr in 50 zones and past crèche on the same road despite failed attempts by locals to get speed ramps, the lazy good for nothing cops in the local Garda station won't do a thing about the speeding, it's not unique to my old home village either.
People can't and won't do it so it's inevitable that that day is coming where the car simply won't allow you break the limit where it really shouldn't be broken.
Still only 1st part of OTA update completed, but notice this morning on a short trip that a lot more road signs are coming up on the recognition system above speedo on drivers' display. Perhaps I haven't noticed them before, but previously only saw speed signs and no overtaking sign. Today had warnings of school children, crossroads, bad bends etc.
The semiconductor issue has been an issue since March but I suppose it took a while to take effect.
No, it's not a job I would do either . But it doesn't look like rocket science. Keep complaining to VW and who knows, they might install correctly on future models.
