calls go out once per month, either the very start or very end of a month, but usually a 4 week gap between calls
Hi guys, long time lurker here. Glad to see you all progressing through the stages! I have my pca soon and wondered if anyone who has failed their pca could answer a couple of questions for me about the support sessions they offer. If I could pm you I would really appreciate it. Thank you
Hi. I had my pca and i passed it. But from what i remember during the induction, there are support sessions every forthright (won't specify the day of the week and the place, in case pcas are held at different locations). So, if u fail your pca, you are told you can attend a few of these sessions and to re-sit your pca at any of these sessions when you feel ready. I hope this helps. Good luck x
Well done on passing! I was looking to find out what day of the week they're held on so I can plan ahead with work. Had a bad injury and haven't trained for a while. Could really do with an extra few weeks until it fully heals. Work can be a nightmare with time off so wanted to try and plan in advance. I know no specific dates are allowed just the day of the week would be handy. I really appreciate your help though. Thanks very much
They were like a Wednesday or a Thursday, can't remember exactly, right in the middle of the day at about 12 ish. I didn't go to any cause it would have been a full day off work and using annual leave for me but I probably should have...
Thank you. Thats why I'm trying to plan ahead. I appreciate your advice tashbash
Hi, time for medical is very variable. From what I can see if you have no medical condition etc, you will get results within a week or so. If you have a condition requiring additional information, it is case by case. Personally, took a few months after appeal etc. To get the call, it depends on your merit number and who's appointable. They literally go down the list based on appointability and merit number.
Thank you Big_A! Well done on you passing your medical even after an appeal. I hope i won't have to get to that but my eyesight with a surgery could be a hint, will continue to live in hope :) Thanks and good luck with your start. M. x
Thank you and good luck!
Hi
Has anyone who did their PCA in June got a date for their medical yet?
Anyone of you guys that have been waiting long on vetting hear back yet?
Not a word bud, couldn't see it happening anytime soon going by how long those in the past have had to wait to even get an interview
Not good. My biggest fear is passing everything else and failing vetting. but sure whats for you won't go past you
Aye I had a fear of being left to rot for ages with vetting and that seems to be coming true now... You just have vetting left?
HI, yeah, i had my pca towards the end of June and have recently had my medical. No results yet. Hope this helps, M.
PCA soon- maybe see some folk from in here who knows and medical to go.
Anyone currently in GV able to confirm what PE sessions consist of and how often? I believe it is based upon CrossFit? I'm not a real gym attender and trying to prepare now so I don't struggle lol. My strength is cardio, not so much weights etc. Thanks in advance for any info.
Yes, it's an adapted form of CrossFit. The PE sessions are VERY intense and you are expected to complete a number of fixed workouts in your own time outside of PE sessions. If you usually focus on cardio, that's going to stand you in good stead.
Thank you for your response!
For your PCA warm up session- I'm guessing you get the attempt to try and pass it without being marked or how does it work?
they walk you around the course and you are allowed to do 2 sections at a time of it combined but not the full course and definitely no timing unfortunately. All watches need to be removed on the actual day also
Anyone going into GV September ?
I'm guessing if you pass your pca it's around another month wait for the medical and smt? Also are you told on the day you've passed or another dreaded email
i believe it’s a month in between if you pass and you’ll know on the day
7 week wait for me
Not good at all- seems to be slowing up now
It was a 7/8 week for me also and I was in one of the fast tracked groups
To be fair, many not on the "fast track" groups have caught up and even taken over those who were on those groups
I have a Sep start date
I’m waiting nearly 7/8 weeks now and still nothing.
emailed recruitment a few weeks back and got “will be in touch shortly with a date”
