Apparently Trump can earn $1m per speaking gig and up to $2m abroad.
I will just let that sink in.
I mean I would be delighted with 50 cent per boards.ie post 😎
let what sink in?
Ridiculous analogy unless you think the protesters were planning on crashing a mail cart into the chambers and lighting farts.
You mean the Michigan taking over the state capital plan that seems to be cooked up by FBI informants?
Who outside of the US would want DT to do a speech for them let alone pay him 2 million dollars?
Brexiteers? Orben in Hungary?
That's a ridiculous article but it is TMZ.
Right, so it has nothing to do with the type of weapons then? Make your mind up will you.
The insurectionists intention was to halt the democratic process, to stop the counting of the EC votes. They said as much and Trump wanted VP Pence to go along with it. They nearly succeeded but luckily they didn't have enough resources combined with some quick thinking by those tasked with protecting VP and others, meant it didn't work.
Nobody, nobody, thought that 9/11 was possible until it happened. The thought that a few dozen men armed with nothing more than box cutters could make direct hits against the financial heart, and the Pentagon was absurd. But here we are.
As for Michigan, it isn't my fault that it goes completely against you attempt to downplay Jan 6th because they were armed with automatic weapons. That you can't condemn it based on your own, supposed, principle, shows that the principle is nothing more that a way to try to tell yourself that you are right.
You were already given evidence of guns and bombs.
Stop being so pathologically obtuse.
Flat earther
They could save their cash by his playing repeats of his speeches, it's not like he ever says anything original anyway.
Poor Jared has stepped back from politics to go past Riyadh and collect his bonus
Meaning - how ridiculous it is that amount of money for a bit of bluff and bluster. Is that not self evident given the context of the link. Or do you think that such amounts of money given for very little are not a bit odd?
How many people can earn such amounts of money for giving a simple speech? Meanwhile frontline workers nurses etc are paid pittance. It is a mad world is my point. Plus it follows on to the OP's question what now for Trump - handy speeches and easy money - for a start.
Edit: I just realised the poster I am responding to, I am not looking for one of those 'confrontation for the sake of it' arguments that you seem revel in.
And yet he's struggling to sell tickets to his speaking tour with Bill O'Reilly.
That doesn't feel like the vibe you'd expect from a "million dollar speaker"
whatever about being able to con a million out of his MAGA followers , where exactly "overseas" would he be paid $2M to "speak" ??
I wonder does Trump insist on payment upfront or only on tickets sold?
I looked up the rates former US presidents get the estimates seem a lot lower
750k for Bill
400k for Barrack
175K George W
I have a feeling the other article I linked might have been a bit on the high side of estimates.
But it still looks like 'money for jam' to me.
I'm aware of the fact that the likes of Clinton and Obama get good money for public speaking and to a lesser extent Bush , but certainly in the case of Clinton and Obama they are both noted Orators and would be of interest to a fairly broad range of people both in the US and Internationally.
None of those things is true about Trump - He has the same 20 minutes of material that he has been recycling endlessly for the last 5 or 6 years and on top of that he's simply an appalling public speaker with a very narrow band of people that would be interested in hearing him repeat the same 20 minute schtick ad infinitum.
If Clinton/Obama are in the 400k-700k range and Bush is 175k , Trump would be lucky to crack 6 figures on the open market.
In the real world as you say , that's money for jam , but outside of the MAGA crowd he has no appeal and even they seem reluctant to go to see him when it's not free.
Sane human beings would pay money not to have to listen to Trump.
"Entertained"
Jiggle the keys and they're all placated
how charming. Your username means nothing to me. I don't remember ever discussing anything with you in the past.
It takes a special kind of simple to think Trump is entertaining
Yes. It's kind of like watching your pet mouse running around its cage.
But they were just tourists??
It was similar type of the last two replies you gave me - as the above. Which is why I remember. At least you seem to enjoy it though. Everything is a 'battle /sarky/smug'. Down to minute details.
nope, still nothing.
I actually agree with Judge Howell to an extent, who was appointed by Barack Obama, by the way. But justice has to be equally applied towards the law. She is scapegoating the Trump supporters. What she should have said is something like 'law enforcement and the courts ignored the violence, mayhem and destruction by antifa and BLM and it enabled them to continue their path of destruction across US cities to the tune of billions of dollars. But since their actions were exonerated we have to do the same here and allow them to plead to lesser crime. This has to stop, but it needs to stop all around and not pick and choose, because when we do we then politicize justice.'
People did (and do) find him entertaining, though, and I don't think it's fair to say that they're a special kind of simple just because of that. People are fascinated and drawn by many negative things. Serial killers, hangings, beheadings, car crashes to name just a few. It's not surprising people would be rapt by the bizarre spectacle of the Trump presidency given how he conducted himself. It surely must have something to do with why this thread is still going strong.
But I would take your statement and amend it slightly - it takes a special kind of simple to think Trump being entertaining made his presidency worthwhile. "Hey, at least he was entertaining" is not an excuse for poisoning the well of political discourse as he did.
ahem
"Entertainment" is not a good basis for a presidency.
The Biden thread is quiet because the President is doing presidential things and there is little to discuss.
The Trump thread is alive because many people here, as well as the majority of Americans, want to ensure that he will face repercussions for his actions.
Notabtuse needs to up his game 😀
Car crashes aren't entertaining but that doesn't stop rubber necking
Weirdly, you bolted that thread when the last jobs report was announced?
Would you like us to discuss the investigation into the trump insurrection in the Biden thread or what about his organisation being indicted or his latest associate getting arrested?
