Honestly, I found it ok. The panel were very helpful and led the interview where they needed.
By way of advice - have a couple of strong examples for each competency. The second ones can be interchangeable as most examples will demonstrate more than one competency. Know them well and be prepared for follow up questions.
the look for an example and start questioning them quickly so get to the point as soon as possible.
Also - use the PAS competency indicator to construct your answers in advance. Try hit as many of those points as possible.
Good luck with your interview, I hope it goes well.
there is a 4 place difference between my interD spot and and my open spot; I'm higher on the interD panel so I'm early double digits on the open
I emailed them last night and they came back to me just before lunch today with the change. That's a shame hopefully they will fit you in.
It’s just Tweets said they had reached the mid teens in the interd and I wondered why they passed over me. I will email them. Thanks.
Ah great. When did you request the change if you don't mind me asking? That would have suited me perfect but they said no dates available? Hope I get yours now unless they swapped you with someone else. Aaagh!!
Thanks! I requested and have been granted a change! Got 18th August so hopefully you can get my date if it suits you better! Best of luck!
Are you early teens on Open? I'm top ten in InterD and was contacted off that for a Dublin job. Maybe email Clearance and ask for an update on how many left ahead of you :)
I've requested a change so you could get my date (8 days after yours) if you request one and I may get yours instead.
I’m in the early teens of the July panel and I’ve heard nothing yet. I’m down for Dublin?
Congrats to you both, great to see y’all getting offers. On a scale of 1-10…. How gruelling was the final inteeview?
Congrats!
I also got an offer today for Further & Higher Education. It was also an interD offer so I'm presuming the clearance process will be quite quick??
Just an update for anyone in the July panel - they seem to be moving on and have reached mid teens on the Interd. I got an email from PAS today with a provisional offer for a Dept. Just have to wait on clearance now. There was mid 30’s placed on this panel so I’d say they’ll be through that by mid August at this rate.
Ah no, bad luck with the timing. I’m sure they have to make allowances considering it’s August and we have been locked up for ages. Seems like they have two weeks of interviews for this batch and im sure others will need to swop dates too. Best of luck.
Hi - I got called for interview on Monday 9th - this date really doesn't suit as I am due to go to Killarney that week! Anyone know my chances of getting this deferred until the following week or the email address to contact them at?
Hi. I did indeed and it is great notice. I'm a bit freaked as I actually fly back in that day after a short city break to visit my brother. FFS!!
Has anyone cancelled an interview date before and re-scheduled? How does it work?
I will try calling them tomorrow, will also drop an email.
Did you get the invite to stage 4? Just got a notification this evening… three weeks to prepare, we can’t complain we didn’t get enough notice anyway.
I finally got an update from PAS; from the info they gave, and my panel placings, it looks like they are up to about 5 on the open and 3 on interd from the panel created at start of July. happy days, not too far off my own placement!
just edited to add that by my estimation they have taken about 25 in last 2 weeks!
I know someone who was recently leaving an AP post in one of my regions and they struggled to replace him. Finally appointed a new recruit, possibly from this campaign - an external candidate too (as am I.) Feeling around was that there were very little candidates on a panel for the region.
The AP I know said there are many vacancies around the country and that if they are calling for your region, likelihood is the panel is exhausted or almost in that region.
Any idea if there are any live vacancies in your locations? I haven’t a clue in my area, not heard of any.
I've two regional locations on mine and both were on this round of calls. I'd prefer a late August/ September interview as away for a bit mid-month! Hoep we hear this week too, even if it's a bit off.
Hope we hear this week, with interviews on week beginning 16th, maybe running for up to 2 weeks with results on 30th pure speculation, but that’s best case scenario. Reckon if we don’t hear in next couple of days it will be pushed back to Sept.
Wonder how many survived the etray? I have only 2 regional locations on application, and this round is for one of them… not holding out much hope of a placement if successful at interview.
we got the etray results on 10/06 and invite on 14/06 for interview on 29th. i know that people were the week before that though.
Etray results last Friday - anyone care to guess when we might hear about an interview?
I know this is complete speculation as none of us know.
Were many people waiting a few weeks to hear? I know some got as little as 10 days notice.
With the August bank hol coming up and leave season it's hard to know.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one waiting. I was wondering if I had been blocked for annoying them 😆
But yep, moving so fast from what I'm hear from people ahead of me. Really want that update!
Nope you're right, they are moving super fast! I presume there will be a slow down for August though and if we don't hear by Friday I wonder if it will be Sept??
I’m waiting for a reply as well. On the panel like yourself for both open and interdepartmental. Am keeping a close eye on how fast it’s moving...
@Cheeseplant Ah, gotcha - sorry, my bad. Hopefully you're not waiting too long - in general they seem to be moving very quickly over the last few months and there doesn't appear to be any shortage of vacancies!
Thanks Tauren..I should have been clearer; I'm not in clearance yet for a post but waiting to hear current panel situation. Looks like they took about 20 people in last 2 weeks so I want to know how many before me now. Waiting since 16th for a response!
It takes longer than a week. Garda clearance by itself takes around that, assuming everything is straightforward (not too many addresses, not lived outside Ireland for more than 6 months), then they have to follow up with references for current and former employers. If someone is on holidays, well, that'll delay things, too.
Edit to add: I'm in the same boat, from a different competition. Got a mail last week to say Garda clearance had finished and it was back to PAS.
Anyone else waiting on a reply from Clearance? I don't want to be harassing them but I'm waiting well over a week for a reply to my original mail and the follow up!
