Probably looking for a €10 million budget increase from government to have an extreme weather department where they will send notifications to every home in the country to put on Factor 50.
I wouldn't mind but they regularly feature complete unchallenged one way trash on Eco Eye and Room To Improve where they classify homes with wood burning stoves in built up areas as sustainable or try to make an €80k insulation upgrade on a home currently using less than €2k in total a year to heat itself as a viable investment.

well, this thread gets off to a flying start. the thread title is adulterated to say something the title in the newspaper doesn't actually say, and nothing quoted in the article suggests that he was talking about recent irish weather.
if you'd cared to actually find the article the chap in question wrote, he's referring to events almost all outside ireland.
i dunno, maybe the indo journalist got it wrong and they've since amended the article. but maybe you shouldn't believe everything you read in the indo if so.

Mate, I put the title on the thread. I know boards is dying a fast death for various reasons, some due to overly fussy moderators, but I wasn't aware that a thread referring to a news article in After Hours had to have the same headline as the linked article.
Did you even read the article he posted? Clearly not. He explicitly references the recent extreme weather events in Canada, the US, and Germany. Where did you get the notion this has anything to do with Ireland's recent warm spell? Virtue signalling indeed! 🙄

No doubt in my mind that climate change is a real thing and only idiots and oil barons will deny it.
However, we have always had and will always have weather.
Ireland’s highest ever recorded temperature was back in 1887 long before Global warming was an issue.
The recent heatwave only lasted about 10 days, and we’ve had longer warm summers in 2013, 2006. 1995 and 1976 which were wall to wall sunshine for a few months. All to do with weather not climate change.
