Yes they do but they also have efficient public transport that people arent afraid to travel on.
You do need to cycle in traffic in Dublin, have done it all my life, I never whinged about cars and looked for roads to be closed to suit me.
who after watching a young girl being shoved under a dart is going to let their son or daughter travel by Dart, safer to drop them where they want to go and pick them up.
Very difficult for elderly and those with buggies etc to use public transport, we are decades behind other countries and you wont get people out of cars unless there is reliable cheap buses, buses are the preferred choice for many people as you have a driver should things kick off and you can also get off a bus.
Stopping buses travelling down a grotty street in Dunlaoghaire is pointless, cars, taxis and buses passing through Monkstown village and its thriving.
Let's not lose track of ourselves. DARTs are full of passengers every day, young, old, disabled - lots of people who don't get scared off by Dublin Live sensationalising an incident. DL is still very well served by buses, who pass either end of the pedestrianised area on a regular basis.
Please ease off on the catastrophising every minor change that doesn't suit your mindset or your commercial interests. Not everyone can drive. Not everyone has a car. We need to stop planning our cities around private car ownership.
Let them build it and then get thrown out on their ear at the next elections. The Green's are finished as a political force after the absolute mess they've made to traffic flows in my area in Goatstown anyway.

The people we DO elect at Council level are being taken out of the decision making equation, by what I consider to be an abuse of process by the Council management.

One highly sensationalised incident does not mean 'no security on the DART'. It means there was no security on that platform of that station at that time. There's never going to be security on every platform of every station every time. The DART is not the no-go area that you're painting it to be. Tens of thousands of people use the DART every day, thousands of people use the DART every night, incidents are rare enough and serious incidents are very rare.

I heard this from Dublin Live just now. I'm pretty sad for the staff working at Hartley's in Dún Laoghaire. That building was also the original entrance to the train station below it before it became a seafood restaurant. I wouldn't be surprised but pretty gutted to hear about the history of the railway being wiped out because of the fire. It's very sad either way.
