Today has been fabulous in Meath, it's been the coldest day we've had in over a week but it's been the most comfortable and pleasant. 22 to 24C all day and a nice cooling breeze. Spent the entire day in the garden relaxing, couldn't do this on the other days.
Clouds bubbling in Sligo but I think darkness may beat their potency with sunset in just over an hour and severe storms pushing out into the ocean.
Gone "down" to 27c now from approximate 30c earlier.

They had south Leitrim the other night which gave me a laugh! They'll have to split Cork in 10 by those standards, expect warnings for mid East South East Cork!
The UK Met Office is very helpful. I think they will send you historic daily data from Castleberg if you ask them. No harm in asking at least.
For what it is worth, the 7 day average maxima for Castlederg (not including today) is 27.7c, which is on par with Ballyhaise and Claremorris.
Tomorrow, that 7 day average (which will include today's max) will be 28.1c

There will probably be another good spell in August but I seriously doubt we will see this type of heat again in 2021
Nights should be cooler so a 24c 12c spell could be better than the 30c 18c of this week. I'd reckon 2nd or 3rd week of August might have some good weather.
However it's back to the Northwesterly slider from Monday and that always lasts a couple of weeks.
By the way Markree was 29.5c yesterday and Finner 28.8c so my own weather station reading 31c in Sligo was probably only a degree or so too high.
Met Eireann station maxima averaged over the last 7 days (up to yesterday)
As mentioned yesterday, Castlederg's 7 day average will come at 28.1c, so safely in the top 10. My own local Met AWS station has the 7 day high average at 28.6c, which is based on top and bottom of the hour highest readings rather than the actual max reading, which I would guess is roughly .1c to .3c higher., so realistically, the 7 day average max would be more closer like 28.7c or 28.8c.
Given boards.ie was down for the relevant time, can I ask how far out people foresaw this heatwave?
Looks perfectly normal to me, given that it's a flex scale, so colour gradients represent only tenths of a degree. Show it on the normal scale and it will look fine.

That temp profile chart isn't normal, flex or not. Might just be the difference between a few degrees, but its how there are distributed.
And Debbie was originally a hurricane, and the big wind was an actual storm.
