I can understand their thoughts in one way. For years a local charity that I’m involved with would provide sandwiches during the annual table quiz, brought in by members of the committee from their own homes. About 4 years ago, we had to stop doing this and instead use the kitchen of the local meals on wheels to make the sandwiches, as they are approved by HSE and committee members kitchens weren’t!
Imaging the furore if there was an outbreak of food poisoning from one of these soup kitchens?
Surely the existance and need for these soup kitchens should cause furore among any decent person
Was the man with two pints overseeing this?
The suggestion was it wasn't for health purposes but for face saving purposes. I added that they allowed a meat packing plant with a covid cluster to remain open. Giving weight to the opinion that it may indeed just be a face saving exercise. If it was genuinely for health reasons I applaud them and would ask why they let the meat packing plant operate?
I would guess most operations trying to feed the homeless and housed poor are on the fly. I find it hard to believe authorities that create the need for soup kitchens are overly concerned about how many Michelin stars a lad handing out sandwiches has.
Why shut these 2 kitchens down now when they have been going a few years? Are they going to inspect the other 18 kitchens? As for saying they are not shut down, they effectively are shutdown as there is no way these charities can make the changes that are in the report. So I will ask again why now? Is it because of the pictures of people queuing for the dinners or the pictures of kids being fed on the streets has offended someone in a very touchy government? Remember we had the finance minister getting his knickers in a twist when children's shoes were mentioned.
My opinion of Fine Gael is that nothing is beyond them, why the citizens of Ireland vote for a party that hates Ireland and its citizens so much is beyond me,
Lots of weird conspiracy theories abound here. FG cannot dictate HSE Public Health guidelines or sent them out to shut down places that serve food.
I think the heat is getting to a few people, or they are watching a few too many Gemma video's.
Ireland gives its unemployed some of the highest welfare payments and supports in the World. Yet, people swarm to these soup kitchens for more handouts. And somehow, it’s all the governments fault?
To answer why well the details are included in the articles I have seen https://www.rte.ie/news/regional/2021/0722/1236566-homeless-cafes-dublin/
The HSE inspection found that the soup kitchen was in violation of several food safety standards, including: that the food business was not officially registered, there was no temperature monitoring of food, workers were not fully trained in food hygiene, there was no information provided as to who made the food, there was no facility for hand washing, and there was no allergen information available for the food.
OK, so it is an opinion that you are trying to present as fact.
You are welcome to your opinion, but it is not honest to try and present your opinion as a fact.
As are you welcome to yours.
Thank you.
The difference is that I don’t try and present my opinion as fact. You do, and that is not honest.
Which leads me to believe that you have a particular agenda and that you will and have lied to try and present your agenda as fact.
If you want to discuss something then it is a good idea to be honest. The next step in a discussion is to understand that not everyone has the same opinion, and to respect other poster right to their opinion without insulting them.
You stated that the government was shutting down soup kitchens, which was a lie.
Darragh O'Brien fobbing off the rumoured serious internal FF and internal government warring on his housing plan on Claire Byrne: 'Claire all my colleagues in FF are passionate about housing'.
Is that another way of saying all my colleagues are either landlords or property owners? 😉
Lots fall between the cracks ,other countries spend roughly the same per head but deliver it differently, people should be assessed properly so those with addiction and intellectual issues can be identified and helped rather than throwing them a few hundred quid and saying you're on your own.
Aye....thats why they allowing unvaxinated kids into pubs and restsurants againest advice🤣
Another one of these dancing on the head of a pin. The HSE are funded and governed by the government and are therefore part of the government. The fact is that the HSE are shutting down Soup kitchens, it may only be these 2 now and more may follow who knows but the question is why now? Theses soup kitchens have been running for a few years now and now all of sudden they are a health risk.
I copied and pasted the issues the HSE identified. Do you think any of the requirements are unreasonable?
Personally the one about been registered seems a bit over the top but could be why the HSE have not checked them before because they didn't know they existed.
The running water seemed strange but I did see the HSE said if the food is packaged then hand wipes would be acceptable which seemed a common sense approach
Again with the lies.
The HSE are not shutting down soup kitchens.
It may be your opinion that they are, but in fact they are recommending changes to food handling practices to bring them in line with current food handling regulations.
Now, if you don’t want them to enforce the regulations, then just say that.
As to ‘why now’, you will have to ask the HSE.
Don't waste your energy Mark.
Nothing can stop the "blame the gubberment/FFG" juggernaut when at full steam.
Well Mary 'let's lick the arse of fg' Anne how the hell do you know what their situation is?
The sooner they are destroyed the better. I would take great pleasure in watching that happen.
I wish I could accept mediocrity so easily. It must be a gift. It's difficult wanting a better political system and country. New Politics...
Its fair to say at this point FG have a lobbying problem, Brian Hayes, Noel Rock, Michael D’Arcy, Paudie Coffey and Phil Hogan
"Phil Hogan appointed to business that lobbies European Commission"
Piper has to be paid.
If there was an outbreak of food poisoning from one of these soup kitchens, you could bet the house that the same posters would be on here berating the HSE for not regulating the soup kitchens and not making sure that regulations were followed.
I agree with you, but some won’t accept help. Others use the soup kitchens rather than spend their welfare money on food. That’s not the Government’s fault. Fair play to the people who run the soup kitchens. They have great intentions but are leaving themselves open to prosecution should someone become after eating their food.
FGers will find Phil's appointment entirely acceptable.
New Politics 2011
The fundamental goal of Fine Gael’s New Politics is to build a New Republic where the peoples’ concerns are placed at the centre of government. In a Republic, the people are supposed to be supreme. Judged by that simple standard, Ireland today is a Republic in name only. The expressions “Golden Circle”, “Crony Government” and “Cosy Capitalism” all describe the same thing: The abduction of our Republic by both public and private sector vested interests, aided and abetted by the present Government.
This document helped me vote FG in 2011 as I had done for many elections. It was a sham. They are dishonest.
Its mad isnt it.....you wouldnt go to the gym and say sure il prick around and put no effort in
You wouldnt play a match and put anything less than 100% in and demand it of those around you
You wouldnt do a half assed job in work or for yourself in DIY....why then would anyone put up with **** governments then.?
Never accept less than standreds/efforts...yous set for yourself
Yep. It's no way to live. Life is way too short to accept poor standards/performance and accountability.
I call it robotic loyalty and I blame the parents! 😋
