20mins without a score
Arrogant performance by a few of these lads. That penalty attempt summed it up.
Just realized this is on TG4, flicked over just in time to see Roscommon hammering the ball into the net :-(
I'd say too many tuned into the mayo news podcast last week.
It's a bloody disgrace tbh and 6 points return in an evening like tonight is embarrassing.
At home in a final you should be eating the seats to win it.
Lack of coaching, attitude and skills
Their final was the game against Galway.
The management only took over in January and only had them for awhile with covid.
But still a piss poor game.
Didn't seem to be any real tactical plan against the blanket.
Can't believe a Mayo team played like that, at home in a Connacht Final.
I didnt see tonights game but that describes Mayo from the match in Tuam. Incredibly wasteful
Pretty poor performance but Roscommon full value for their win. They certainly took their opportunities and were a lot more efficient in possession and in the tackle. So many times our back lines were dispossessed coming out with the ball. We had something like 9 wides in the first half alone.
we certainly didn’t appear to have any plan B available.
That was grim on both sides of the white line.
I don't think Roscommon could believe their luck 10 minutes in when they realised they were up against a rabble of individuals.
The McHale Pk surface probally didn't suit that Mayo Team. They would need to get it sorted, it's cost them alot of games over the years.
Don't think the surface is much of an issue in the summer especially in this type of weather. Different story in the rain, Frost and snow in the winter though.
We can blame alot of things with regard to that loss but the state of the pitch certainly isn't one!! The alarm bells were there for me in the first half when the Rossies took a short kick-out and walked the ball up the pitch without a glove being laid on them and kicked it over the bar. No intensity in what we were doing and tactically very naive. Just hoofing it in the second half and got a very fortuitous penalty. It's hard to go from playing a blanket last week to trying to be more expansive this week. In hindsight he should probably have set-up the same way as against Galway. Rossies were well up for the game and were full value for it as they had similar amount of wides to Mayo. Id agree with the majority and say there was alot of complacency in that Mayo performance and that is definitely a Connaught Final left after them
Lower hogan available now in most pod sizes
ffs I should have just waited
I'd say the pitch surface comment by peter was an attempt at trolling.
tickets not taken up by clubs I'd say
'... a bloody disgrace!!!!'
Calm down old fella. There's always next year.
It was an awful showing, one of the worst I've seen in a long time. On that showing most of these lads won't be getting anywhere near the senior team (Carney aside). Brutal stuff.
Not looking good for Sam before 2030 then, from that single showing.
One match, and the entire future is bollox Ed.
Right.
Your tearing the arse out if it,u17 u20 are the further of any senior team and with that sh1te show the last evening it's not a great way to go about it.
They will regroup and hopefully the rumours of horan being involved are not true and maurice will be let get on with it
Dempsey's mother fairly busy on social media defending the team, rightly or wrongly.....
Out again tonight against Roscommon.
In what way was Horan rumouredto have been involved?
The u20 style of play was the antithesis of Horanball, so it's hard to see what his involvement was.
Ah come on lads, is this a football thread or a gossip thread? Dempsey's mother???
Strong team named dont expect o'hara to start as horan never has started a named team.
The boards update has made it very quiet around here.
Not a peep when usually this thread would be full in the lead up to what is essentially and All Ireland quarter final.
Just finished listening to the Mayo News podcast.
Interesting from Barry Cullinane when he said that if Mayo are missing Keegan, Diarmuid O' Connor and they are obviously missing Cillian, then Galway should be winning this game.
And he is dead right I think.
They would be three huge losses for Mayo.
I see now that DO'C and Keegan are named
Robert Hennelly
Lee Keegan
Padraig O Hora
Michael Plunkett
Paddy Durcan
Oisin Mullin
Stephen Coen
Matthew Ruane
Conor Loftus
Bryan Walsh
Aidan O Shea ( C )
Diarmuid O Connor
Tommy Conroy
Darren McHale
Ryan O Donoghue
Minors go down 4-13 to 2-12
Shane Walsh starts for Galway.
As a Galway man I'm delighted but have serious doubts about his fitness. He's not a lad that can mind his hamstrings.
Didn't see it but it's a lot of goals to ship. Goals win games
