Welcome to Boardsies Greatest - Most Overrated Song - Live Thread.
There are 170 songs in contention to be crowned the most overrated song.
We will kick off with a qualifying round.
Format will be announced before each round.
Lionel Richie - Hello - overrated artist
Lukas Graham - 7 years
Arcade Fire - No cars go - another overrated artist
I like the last two songs to much to vote either one
Everybody Vs Hello Abstain (Both good)
Luke’s Graham - 7 years (Awful tripe)
The Killers - Human (Despise it and it’s grammatically incorrect)
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood (Never got the hype at all for this and that’s the perfect reason for a vote in this comp)
Back Street Boys - Everybody Vs Lionel Richie - Hello - A very average song that stuck in the mind probably because of the awful video
Lukas Graham - 7 years Vs Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Arcade Fire - No cars go Vs The Killers - Human
Don McClean - American Pie Vs Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
The Beatles - Get Back Vs U2 - Without or Without You
Always U2!
Prince - Purple Rain Vs Meatloaf - Two out of three ain't bad
Not the biggest fan of Meatloaf, but that one isn't too bad. Not really a fan of Prince.
Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes - Senorita Vs The Beatles - Love Me Do
pass
Elton John - Candle in the wind Vs Simply Red - Stars
Hate it! Original CitW was pretty good. The Diana remix was awful though, so it'd be a close thing if that's the one I was voting on (at work, can't listen to YouTube link to decide which one it was).
Back Street Boys - Everybody Vs Lionel Richie - Hello
Awful song!
Don't know the song, but Queen is fantastic!
Bloody love American Pie so long as it's not Madonna singing it.
Lionel Richie - Hello
Arcade Fire - No cars go
Don McClean - American Pie Vs Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood; abstain
Back Street Boys - Everybody 1 Vs 2 Lionel Richie - Hello
Lukas Graham - 7 years 3 Vs 1 Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Arcade Fire - No cars go 2 Vs 1 The Killers - Human

Q41
MGMT - Kids Vs Avril Lavigne - Sk8r Boi
Q42
P!nk - What About Us Vs Michael Jackson -Thriller
Q43
Extreme - More than Words Vs Adele - Rolling In The Deep
Q44
Prince - 1999 Vs Billie Eilish - Bad Guy
Some unbalanced ties here. Sk8er boi is really underrated IMO; a cracking tune. So MGMT for me there.
Thriller is fantastic and deserves its reputation, so Pink.
Pass on the third - don't know either.
And Billie Eilish on the last
Avril Lavigne - Sk8r Boi ; good, but not one of her best
P!nk - What About Us ; its fine, she has far better songs though
Extreme - More than Words ; meh, never got the appeal of this one, it was fine if it had stayed in its lane and been somewhat popular for a year or two in the early '90s, but by no means is it a song anyone should still be held in any sort of esteem over 30 years later. Didn't nominate this one, but could see it being a contender to win the tournament for me
Billie Eilish - Bad Guy ; much like Avril and P!nk, its grand, but Billie has far superior songs than this
Pass
P!nk - What About Us
Adele - Rolling In The Deep
Billie Eilish - Bad Guy
MGMT - Kids Vs Avril Lavigne - Sk8r Boi (both great)
P!nk - What About Us Vs Michael Jackson -Thriller (I probably nominated this)
MGMT - Kids 2 Vs 1 Avril Lavigne - Sk8r Boi
P!nk - What About Us 5 Vs Michael Jackson -Thriller
Extreme - More than Words 2 Vs 2 Adele - Rolling In The Deep
Prince - 1999 2 Vs 3 Billie Eilish - Bad Guy
Last 5 Qualifiers on the way

Van Morrison - Bright side of the road Vs Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines
Q46
Lana del Rey - Videogames Vs The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)
Q47
Dire Straits - Walk of Life Vs Cher - Believe
Q48
Bob Marley - Could you be Loved Vs The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony
Q49
Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts Vs Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down
Van Morrison - Bright side of the road
Lana del Rey - Videogames
Dire Straits - Walk of Life
Bob Marley - Could you be Loved
Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts
And if it still makes any difference, Extreme
MGMT, worst live gig ever
Van Morrison - Bright side of the road ; Van has some good songs, but this is mediocre at best, and hugely overrated. I wouldn't consider Blurred Lines overrated - it was everywhere for a couple of months, but hasn't stood the test of time and has been largely forgotten about.
The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) ; I've actually warmed to this in recent years, but hated it for a long time, and even though I enjoy it now, it's still very overrated, whereas I love VideoGames.
Cher - Believe ; I don't really think either are overrated, and if it was up against a lot of others it wouldn't be getting my vote, but I haven't abstained from any match-ups yet regardless of difficult decisions, so I won't start now. Walk of Life is the superior song, so I'll reluctantly vote for Believe.
Bob Marley - Could you be Loved ; never been mad about Bob Marley, as an artist I think he's quite a bit overrated.
Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts ; never warmed to this song, she has another song, A Thousand Years, which is far superior, yet this is the one that keeps showing up in games around here, and its only tolerable at best.
Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines
The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)
Cher - Believe
The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony
Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down
Dire Straits - Walk of Life Vs Cher - Believe (no vote)
P!nk - What About Us Vs Michael Jackson - Thriller
Am not an MJ fan.
Love MTW. And Adele is very bland.
Van is such a prat, when I saw him in concert, rude as hell. But he also writes very decent songs, so can't vote for that song as overrated. Blurred Lines probably isn't either as everyone knows it's crap, or should anyway.
Sorry, uncool it may be, but I love that Proclaimers song.
Autotune nightmare. And I really like Dire Straits.
Oh, that's a tough one. I really like Bob but I guess it's one of his more overrated songs. I love Bittersweet Symphony so couldn't vote for it.
pass, I don't know either of these songs.
Van Morrison - Bright side of the road - deserves to burn in hell with his current carry on
@Necro what's his current carry on?
Van Morrison - Bright side of the road 2 Vs 3 Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines
Lana del Rey - Videogames 2 Vs 3 The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)
Dire Straits - Walk of Life 1 Vs 2 Cher - Believe
Bob Marley - Could you be Loved 3 Vs 2 The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony
Christina Perri - Jar Of Hearts 3 Vs 2 Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down
That concludes the qualifying round
Funfact: The Beatles had 9 songs in that round with 5 advancing to round 1
Round 1
Most votes in 1 hour
If there is a tie, 30 mins Golden Vote rule followed by my vote
R1/M1
Adele - Hello Vs Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
R1/M2
Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You Vs The Beatles - Yellow Submarine
R1/M3
Bryan Adams - Everything I Do I Do It for You Vs Marc McCabe - Maniac 2000
R1/M4
The Killers - Mr Brightside Vs Disturbed - Sound Of Silence
Adele - Hello
The Beatles - Yellow Submarine
Marc McCabe - Maniac 2000
Adele - Hello ; I really like Hello, but can't have Smells Like Teen Spirit advancing, the fact that it was even nominated is blasphemous
Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You ; Dolly's version is better
Marc McCabe - Maniac 2000 ; it's a sh*t cover of a great song, even if I do enjoy it when it comes on
Disturbed - Sound Of Silence ; not as good as the original, and Mr. Brightside is an anthem
