Might be suffering from hot panels myself today.
Scorching weather all day, but I'm only at 32kWh. Sun still splitting the stones but generation currently at just 2.2kw
The drops to zero is very likely grid over voltage errors.
Eg the voltage of the grid goes out of spec and the inverter shuts down for a period, - as per the standard all inverters are set to.
Finally got a day with zero clouds and looks like 44 is the magic number for July, shame about export but all batteries were full
Excellent that you finally got the install sorted. No better week to test it too 😀
8.5kw for 6 hours of generation. 3.24kw system.
4 of us got it in from my circle of friends. Each job done in 2 hours.
Did you get any rewards for the recommendations.
Just how much does the scorching heat affect generation?
I have a near perfect curve today so far, but the peak was around 4.5kWh from a 6.2kwp array and a 5kw inverter.
I've seen the system peak at over 5kw in the past on a sunny but colder day.
I'm in the same boat DrPhilG, 6.4kwp, 5kw inverter, and I'm maxing out around 36kwh for near perfect curve. I got my max of all time in April, with 38.6kwh. My peak output is about 4.5kw, so I guess it's warm panels...
Still trying to get a feel for my system. I am getting around 70% rated max for each string. true east and west.
or around a 7.5A per string max for each sting. The strings are made up of Amerisolar Mono 300w Panels. Does 7.5A seem unreasonable for a panel that should at 1000lux/meter square give around 9A.
Another way of saying the same thing is I am getting around 1Kwp from my 1.5Kw east facing and around 630wp from my east 900w
3 out of 4 perfect curves. Getting about 17kWh per day from a 2.5kWp system.
Nice and smooth after the morning fog cleared. Managed to only export 5kWh too despite being out most of the day.
He cut us a good deal on extra panels and assistance with the cost of the ber assessment.
3.24kw system facing west.
Used the oven for 90 minutes, did a wash and had a shower on solar.
You sure you want to post your Eircode on Boards?
There doesn't seem to be a way anymore, on this new and pish version of boards.
But editing like you did will do the trick.
Back on the topic of reduced generation due to heat, is this a normal drop? Current production per string, and the number in red is the capacity.
The attic temperature where the inverter lives is also 38° currently if that makes a difference.
Best I'm getting is 4.4 on 6kWp so I'm happy putting it all down to the heat and this is normal.
What's not normal is the level of heat itself
I'm currently getting 3.2kw although it's getting to the stage where I wouldn't expect full bore from the south facing panels.
And as I speak a cloud just rolled in and dropped me to 610w!
Now at 3.2kw
South string, 2.8 capacity, 1.2 generating.
West string, 3.4 capacity, 2kw generating.
Looking at the longi spec sheet there's about a 25% difference in ideal lab conditions compared to when the panels are at 45c with the ambient air at 20c, with a light breeze!
That must be why may is so good, it's sunny but still fairly cool.
Hot days equals lower efficiency, and therefore lower output. Completely normal.
Panel efficiency can be down up to 25% on hot days I have heard.
Not a bad look, the barest bit of cloud across 5 days.
What a week. I was fully self sufficient for the whole week, with no electricity or gas imported for 7 days. On top of that I also exported some to the grid.
7 days in a row with 40+ kwh
This must be what it feels like to be Spanish 😁
Another 38 today, and more importantly none of it given away.
....and the sun is gone for the foreseeable future
Lol, yup.
Bedroom was still 26 degrees this morning when I woke but the attic had dropped to 19.
Produced 38 yesterday and didn't export a drop.
RIP July, we had a nice 1 week summer
