I believe it is showing 33c all right. Intriguing but it is the highest out on its own. EURO 4 showing 30c in N Kerry / Limerick. Clare/ on Weds.
Gurteen was the highest today at 29.1 degrees officially. The provisional on the chart only shows 27.2. I know it was only provisional but quite a difference?
Ah fair enough, thanks for clearing that up. I thought Gonzo was referring to the original chart posted. Apologies Gonzo!
I'll let Syran look at the finer detail but one of the warmest nights on record (with respect to the national average) occurred on July 22nd 2019, where the national mean minima only fell down to 17.3c. Shannon Apt had a min of just 18.9c that night/morning.
Regarding breakdown scenarios, historically years with hot summers had plenty of reloads. I wouldn't be surprised to see things heat up again once we return to 20/21C.
Lots of time ahead of us, August 1995 was the real scorcher.
In 1989, 1990, 1995, 2003, 2006, 2013 and 2018 I never sweated like this time! I'm older, 45, but fit. I'm constantly changing clothes.
I even sat in a full bath of cold water to cool down each day since Friday!!
This revamped site is painful to use. Click on 'view last post' and it takes you straight to the first page of the thread. Click on the last page number on that first page, and it will take you to about 3 pages back. Can't put my finger on it but something authentic has been lost.
It is painful at the moment but it's for the greater good moving to a modern backend. We'll get used to the new format and things will improve over time regarding functionality, hopefully to a level where it's objectively "better" than the old boards. There's a notice on the top of the page (for me anyway) regarding post dates btw.
"Downtime To Retrieve My Forums
Hello all. To allow us to migrate My Forums and also to update latest post date, we will have scheduled downtime tomorrow Tue 20th July at 6pm for approximately one hour. We apologise for the inconvenience but hope that it will make a huge improvement for users. Thank you."
To be honest, I intend to be in the same place wenesday as I was today
Beautiful clogga beach in Arklow, where there wasn't a fleck of wind down on the beach but just 21c
No oppressive heat there just cool blue sea water

You can sing that again re: August 1995. That month was just pure sex, Irish weather-wise. 😍
This is just you rubbing it in.
(joke)
I was looking at the July poster predictions.
Danno is going to win the high temperature hands down ☺️
Speaking of Malin head, I remember as a 13 year old during the mid July heatwave, the national forecast was 25-30C for over a week.
On the nightly forecast Aidan Nulty, Evelyn Cusack or Michael Scully would use their knitting needle pointer and point to Malin head saying onshore fog kept temperatures at 15c. That northern coastal fringe.
Jeez lads it's very warm tonight
I still want to kiss the blades on my industrial fan. One might say I’m a huge metal fan. #terriblejokeiknow
It's 22c here in Carrick on Shannon, tomorrow could see 29c before afternoon thunderstorms role in, Wednesday will reach 30c for a time, bring it on....
I did notice a few values from synops/WOW not lining up with the hourly observations such as the 29C at Mt Dillon. However, the Gurteen 29C was apparently at 2000 going by the hourly obs and the table was provisional to 1700.
That seemed very late for a peak of 29C though!
Yes, 8pm seems insanely late for a daily peak - at least during summer under a relatively stable airmass - and even more so given it's 29º.
21c in galway now. cntish
i whined so much bout grey cloud guff.
fk me 31c mb wens where de fk did it all come from?
It does. While the evenings have really been holding the heat here (still above 20C now 🥵 ) at 8pm we were 2c below the daily max
I know it can be uncomfortable at night with the high temps. But, it's great to have proper summer, not scraping to 22c on the best days of the summer.
You don't feel you're missing out compared to the UK and the continent. It's proper heat.
If winter delivered it's equivalent in cold and snow I'd be happy 🙂
Holy ****, Malin head is to Ireland to what San Francisco is to California in terms of going from the summer furnace to a fridge.
Remember working moving a piano somewhere north of San Fran and it was 40C, was delighted to come across the Golden Gate into 16C in the afternoon as the fog was rolling in.
Mace head galway 20c at 1am.
I am spending my afternoons in a deck chair in my back garden, gazing out to sea on all sides with a delicious breeze.. Perfection . West Mayo offshore. Photos of the sunrise at my weblog islandanchorhold.blogspot.com

I was curious, so I went looking for the criteria for these warnings, and it's all very clearly laid out here.
I don't doubt that climate change is a very real concern, but the criteria for a Status Yellow temperature warning seems to be the weather being just too nice.
Ok, still very overcast and misty here in Cork City, lets hope it burns off soon!
Absolutely loving this weather, puts people in a great humour ?(although I do feel for the farmers etc.)
Seeing MT's forecast today is just great, still warm temps all around, long may it continue
A vintage spell of weather that won't be forgotten any time soon, it keeps on giving. Mood has been the best it has been for a long while because of it.
Gorgeous misty sunrise this morning in north Dublin.
Why do you feel for the farmers? We just saved some perfect hay. :)
