Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I think we showed in the league match how to beat Wexford. Keep plenty of men behind the ball on their attacks. Let them take the ball in to contact when we have lots of defenders, play breaks down then we attact them up the wings with fast ball. Wexford love runners off the ball and quick passes in to space. Crowd our defence and hit them quick like we did in the first half of the league game especially. Yes they will score long range points but will have plenty of wides too. If their running game is frustrated we will beat them. Midfield pairing of Leahy and Reid will do for me. Good men to track back and defend and then to launch quick attacks. Codys team for Saturday. Murphy, deegan, lawlor, walsh, Browne walsh, Corcoran, Reid, Leahy, keoghan, Walter, Donnelly, Bergin, Tj, Ryan. Not sure of injuries but Cody won't stray too far from the team that started the league game.

Can't see him leaving Mullen and Cody off with Bergin starting unless they're injured? Mullen definitely starts if fit

Looking at the weekends matches it looks like teams were paying different attention to the league than others.Laois were very poor but still got a healthy score. Its a huge game for us and it's hard to call.Id say the team that started against clare won't be far from this weekend but donnelly should be back. Tactically this will be intriguing.Have we really learned how to play against this running game? Will we give up puckouts like teams are doing now?have we learned from the clare game?puckouts, delivery's etc?
Mullens injury the last day was more of a precaution.Leahy and Richie Reid probably be midfield.Hopefully we get it spot on this weekend but I'd be worried bout our defence.

This game is absolutely massive. KK or Wexford will not come out the back door route. Possibly Davys last tilt at a Leinster with Wexford or Brian Cody's with Kilkenny. I would have Cody and Mullen ahead of Bergin every day of the week.

Tickets surely only going through clubs. That's the way it should be anyway.

    What's the Freshford thing about?

    Any update on tickets?

    Any update on tickets?

I wonder if today's announcements end the 8k proposal?

Also, the 2020 Leinster Minor Final versus Offaly has been brought forward to 12 noon on Sat in Portlaoise.
With no cameras now in Portlaoise on Sat, I fear live coverage access to this match is now looking unlikely.
GAAGO doesn't have it (as yet) on their list for this week.

Presume they'll still stream it at the new throw in time of 12 moon?

    That's great.
TBH I am looking forward to it more than the senior.
The winner goes straight to AI final the following weekend
AI semi between Galway and Limerick is on TG4 on Friday night.

Galway yet again look very strong, seven of 2019 minors that won the AI trouncing all comers, starting.
Including four of the starting forwards.

The right side of that attack looks lethal(I'm sure they won't play there) will be interesting to see how they go.

That's where they played against Wexford no? Not sure why they'd change.

Fitz has moved from corner forward to wing back, Beirne to midfield and O Brien from midfield to corner forward. Langton in for Lacey at centre back is the only personnel change.

Fitz, Doyle, Shine and Dunne all underage for the 2021 competiton.

    The ones I know

    Oisin Kelly
    Liam Lacey
    Ted Dunne
    Killian Carey
    Naoise Dempsey
Brendan or Brandon Wheeler - not sure on that one

Edit: just copped that the stream is by Offaly GAA and you have to sign up to their service and pay for it. That's........ Disappointing

Double edit: some of the names of the subs can be found here https://kilkennygaa.ie/2021/04/kilkenny-minor-team-v-wexford/

Hogan and delaney are out which isn't surprising as they haven't played a minute this year
Looking forward to this game it will be interesting to see what way will we set up.I think clare gave a blueprint last weekend. We have to get our match ups right and the use of our sweeper will be very important.Id like to see someone like padraig Walsh as sweeper instead of deegan.

I think that it is Liam Blanchfield rather than David in the subs. Surprised to see Wally and Fogarty starting, Conor presumably playing a defensive role. Darren Mullen in the subs is interesting

I feel that is a dreadfully predictable and conservative selection.
I really don't know what Walter and Conor Fogarty have done to merit inclusion.

Neither has played well in years and showed nothing in their brief appearances during the league to suggest that will improve, while players who showed good form (Alan Murphy, Keoghan, Bergin) get overlooked.

And our backs look ripe for the plucking.
Even if they survive tomorrow, I will be astonished if that 15 could beat one of the big guns

Still, really looking forward to a great day of hurling.

Even if Minors win, they will have a huge task in final
Galway were very impressive tonight (Limerick threatened in the third quarter but Galway then just blew them away in the last 10 minutes)
Massive backs and some lovely forwards
Their number 4 looked like he could easily play senior
the other cornerback Shane Morgan, was a burly full-forward on their 2019 minor team
The mind boggles at the luxury of using a good full forward as a cornerback.

Sad to see no Richie Hogan (will we see him again for county?), there are players on that Kilkenny selection that I'd have Richie on one leg ahead of.

You have to wonder will Wally , Fogarty start the best of luck to both teams tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,292 ✭✭✭JJs Left Hand

No harm in starting them if they're going to play at all in my opinion as you have Leahy, Keoghan and Murphy as impact from the bench. Wally and Fogarty in particular are not going to effect the game coming on late in the game.

The game is going to be incredibly physical for the first 40 minutes so you need to have a few boys to spring when the game gets loose.

Every line on the team bar the goalie & full forward line looks to have obvious weaknesses. Fingers crossed they go well but would be concerned. Good to see Darren Mullen at least in the subs.

Heard Tommy Walsh on the radio yesterday and he reckons they are massive contenders for the All Ireland. Like a lot of these loose 'predictions' it wasn't made in any specific way as in 'I think they are better than x, y, and z and will beat them' , but in tone it went well beyond the 'never write off' angle.

Langton went off injured, Gearóid Dunne back centre back and Ted Dunne in at full forward
