Hi
Just bought one of these H7S-fully scanned and setup.I like it so far but as I like to listen to stuff on Newstalk but it's not there...all RTE is there.I am non techy so don't want to screw around with this...is there a way to get Newstalk on it without screwing up whats there.
Did you press the Radio button and then red all radio stations button, Newstalk should be in the satellite stations.
Yes I have checked several times and its not there-lots of UK stations but no Newstalk. No idea how to get it without doing full scan.
Under SETTINGS>TUNING do a manual scan of
11171 H 22000 5/6 QPSK DVB-S
Brilliant-I did that and it showed up-so thank u very much for that.
BTW in the past Newstalk can be a bit dodgy on satellite. If it disappears for a few minutes or the sound goes wonky like its off channel, the fault is not on your end.
Yes-I have had it on a previous-now replaced STB and I tune in now and then on radio and like u say those problems exist on radio too.
Anyway I am on a learning curve with this particular box and that procedure u outlined is very useful-presumably it can be used for any lost channels-providing u can the right setting. So thats very useful and again thanks for that.
For future reference the site I use is KingofSat. If you set it to sort by date it will bring the most recent changes to the top. Handy if a channel moves or for new channels appearing.

I did put in the hyperlink in the text but it doesn't show on this new site unless you mouseover it.
Ya learn something new about a date
I got Newstalk on that frequency-but-It vanished couple days later. It seems ABM was set to run once per week and when it does it removes Newstalk?? I then have to scan again. All settings on box were set up for me and I have now disabled ABM to be done manually when required. Is this sensible?
I don't use ABM because I think it causes as much hassle as it saves. From what I gather it wont overwrite your favourites bouquets. Did you add Newstalk to your radio favourites? If not I think you should. Others more familiar with ABM might know better.
Well I think u are right about ABM.I had put Newstalk into radio favs but it just wasn't there next day when ABM had run-wasn't even showing in Last Scanned.Anyway I now know what to do if I lose channels-so thanks again for useful tips.....I'm learning!
I have Newstalk on 11170 H 22000 5/6 QPSK DVB-S.
Strictly speaking its 11170.5 but rounding up or down doesn't make a significant difference.

I had a look for that Freq in transponder list but it isn't there.I continue to use the one Gerry gave. Not using ABM very often seems to solve the problem of it vanishing.
Maybe the 11170.5 rounds up on some displays and down on others. I added it to "My Favourites" and that seemed to solve the vanishing issue.
I'm getting a "Tuner failed" message on small few random channels, particularly BBC News HD, Euronews, Film4 etc. ITV HD also but it picked up on a different regional variation and e4 went for a while but it is back now.
Box is only 4 months old. Any idea what is going on?
The channels you mention all seem horizontally polarised - would the dish need tweaking? Let us know what other channels are missing to see if we can see a pattern.
Thanks, you could very well be right. CNN HD and BBC4 also gone or giving trouble, yet other horizontal polarised eg Channel 5 HD, ITV 3, Paramount seem to be fine
Hmm... well that's one theory out the window. Were they working previously and just stopped suddenly, or was it a gradually increase in breaking up?
Went suddenly yesterday. I thought at first it might be the weather, very heavy thundery showers, but if that was the problem it should have rectified by now.
I have had this a couple of times and thought Tuner was failing-box only 2 weeks old-but-on-second occasion the msg said "Tune failed"-not "Tuner".I put it down to heavy rain at time-I do get what I believe is called "Rain Fade" on a few channels now and then.I think Dish may need attention.I have also had the Rain Fade thing on a previous box.
Possibly rain got into the connection with the LNB? Might be worth checking if it's easily accessible.
Update. Most of the channels are back, so it might LNB + rain problems. BBC4 HD & SD and CNN HD & SD, still getting tuner failed message.
I don't mind saying but I'm flumuxed??
Silly Q time. Did you try swapping the cables at the back of the box? If it is a dodgy LNB connection, swapping the cables at the box should show this.
Thanks Gerry. I'll try that.
Thanks Gerry, keep asking the Silly Q's, it seems to have done the trick! Must get the LNB replaced next.
If it now works indicates that the issue is NOT the box but either the cable, connections or LNB. By it's erratic behaviour, my first guess would be water ingress. The LNB itself may be OK. However, if it is a case that you need to get someone out to do the repair, the cost of a new LNB is only a little extra and would give more peace of mind for the future.
Hi there - where did you buy this from, scanned and set up?
