Trying to de-stress after working away from home, and then getting a snotty, shirty email from my head of dept, followed by a snotty, shirty phone call. Blaming me for things that are his responsibility, not mine (it's over an upcoming conference). Grrr!!

Stood up to the arrogant, conceited prick who is utterly divorced from the reality of academic work. Hes getting an extremely unpopular reputation amongst my colleagues.

Why is it that so many people in very senior positions are nasty, vain, self-centred people? Well, as a good friend once told me years and years ago - that's how they get to the top.

Jupiter, I'd follow that up with an email so your side of the story is in writing.

Another one here who needs to find an alternative to working, can't take the stress, hate paying ridiculous amount of tax and the usc, prsi etc. I feel I'm aging quicker than those ladies who lunch and little else. Won nothing on the lotto last night so definitely need a plan B. But covid taught me something and that was where I want to live! So now, I'm looking for something far away from my 'normal'
Didn't see my two favourite people enough over the last 18 months, so want to move close to them.
Which is waaaaay out of my comfort zone! but, covid taught me what is important in my life
