What does the future hold for Donald Trump? - threadbans in OP

I've seen two main options put forward on this forum, (1) that he'll remain a political force until the 2024 primaries start up and the Republicans have to take him seriously or (2) that he'll be so mired in litigation that he'll have no time for politics.

There are of course other options for the next 4 years - prison, exile, death or ill-health (he isn't young and he's been under stress), no politics but a business success, emperor. But it'd be an interesting exercise for people to lay their cards on the table now and make their predictions.

Personally I think his political influence will die quickly after the Capitol fiasco but someone else will emerge in 2 years, once the memories have waned, to be the standard-bearer for the QAnon wing.

This should be filed under the “even Richard Nixon didn’t do this” category of stuff trump did. Nixon did some bad stuff but he never did what we now know William Barr did under the direction to Donald Trump.

He was pushing Hydroxychloroquine as a prophylactic - e.g. Take it to ward off getting Covid etc.

The article confirms what was always the story with it - People with extreme symptoms ,those already in Intensive care etc. saw improvements in recovery.

Trump did what Trump does , he half heard something and came to a completely different conclusion.

Taking Hydroxychloroquine while healthy or even while suffering mild to moderate symptoms has absolutely ZERO positive impact on your likelihood of catching/recovering from Covid.

Even the article casts doubt on those attempting to link the study with Trumps pushing of the drug.

And it's an article in the Daily Mail!!!

How does any of that reduce the terrible job he did in trying to protect the lives of those living in the US. His sole mode seemed to be to try to blame everyone else whilst ignoring actually doing anything about it.

500K people died because he wasn't bothered to do his actual job. More than died in the whole of WWII. Simpy because he was both incompetent, but also unable to even acknowledge that and let others actually deal with it. When he did get out of the way, like he did with Operation Warpspeed, real Americans, real people with actual talent, got things done that made things better for everyone.

Who cares if its a good week for Trump. He left a trail of death and devestation across the nation, ripping families apart and tearing people away from thier loved ones.

Had he shown even a bit of the energy he puts into whining about the election results into protecting the people he swore to serve then there would be many thousands of people still alive and many mulitples of that not facing life without loved ones.

So, him making claims without supporting evidence is not him being proven right.... In fact, a president speculating on anything without supporting evidence is incredibly dangerous. To use an example, his still unproven claim that it could be used as a preventative hit those with arthritis. It's a proven treatment for that but shortages occurred as a result. So good rhetoric resulted in those with chronic illnesses unable to treat their illness.

Well, I mean you can't really expect them to be capable of making a point and backing it up. That sort of thing is for people who tie their own shoelaces and read more than 280 characters at a time. It's not for everyone.

So they were spying on their own staff while they were still working for them.

I have a feeling that there's going to be a lot more on this in the coming days...

I’d say don mcgahn isn’t the only one and given how some of the GOP act at times, it wouldn’t shock me if trump had the justice dept looking into everyone.

I found it funny that both of his attorneys general seem to be claiming “not it” when questioned about who authorised the renewal of the order to keep looking at the people they looked into.
