The key elements include six high speed charging hubs on motorways capable of charging eight vehicles simultaneously; 16 high speed charging hubs capable of charging four vehicles simultaneously; additional high power chargers at 34 current 50 kW locations; upgrading over 50 22 kW chargers to 50 kW, and replacing up to 264 locations with 528 charge points at the pre-existing pilot grade of 22 kW to next generation high reliability models.

Black_Knight wrote: » Wait so it's 3 HPC and 1 ye Olde 50kW unit? Wonder will they keep the old triple head too? So 8 cars can charge, but 1 of them will be using AC. If they keep the old triple head then I think it'll be ok for leaf drivers. If it's a single CHAdeMO head on site it's a bit ****e for them.

liamog wrote: We actually covered that in an old thread, I found multiple examples of DC charging stations located in towns in Norway and The Netherlands. Turns out the mature markets are heading that way, as are Tesla with their lower power urban superchargers.
McGiver wrote: » This is nonsense. You cheery picked one example and were then shown that it was not true, yet you insist on this notion even now despite the evidence.
McGiver wrote: » And back to the topic, I insist, as others pointed out, that 50 kW DC, is still usable as a secondary resource on motorway hubs. Your idea that they are not is, again, in denial of reality - look at NL, NO, AT etc at plugshare (if you haven't been there).

McGiver wrote: » They've always been but the DC:AC ratio is 1:10. That's the whole bloody point. Do you have anything to add or comment on the original 50 kW DC issue rather then going on an everlasting tangent?
liamog wrote: » I'm not sure why you believe that eCars should be installing substandard equipment on motorways, nor am I sure why you believe eCars shouldn't install DC equipment in suburban areas despite showing thats exactly what is happening in mature markets. Do you think the network is now too good, and eCars should dial down their plans. I'm not sure many people would agree with that.
slave1 wrote: » We’re just picking between ourselves, eCars are doing nothing from a strategy perspective, if they were it would be 250w hubs to see themselves over the next 5 years. Instead they are installing for legacy EVs. No foresight.

Black_Knight wrote: » I'd guess somewhere which perhaps has infrastructure already. Id guess the M1 lacks chargers because perhaps it lacks power. Mullingar perhaps so? In keeping with the oodles of HPC in the Midlands.
