Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Chapman, during his biochemistry days at Munich, had spent years examining and cataloguing all the human glands. He designated each according to a letter of the alphabet, and when he had them all isolated and labelled, he settled down to write a minute medical monograph on each one of them. Gland A, gland B, gland C-Chapman’s scholarly dossiers accumulated. Keats looked in to see him one day and found him apparently stumped. One of the glands would not yield to the experiment.

    ‘What’s the trouble?’ Keats said.

‘This gland N,’ Chapman replied, ‘is giving me a lot of trouble. But I’m going to keep after it. I won’t let it beat me. I’ll win yet.’

‘That’s the spirit,’ Keats said. Then he began to potter about the place, whistling some tune. Chapman pricked up his ears.

What’s that you’re whistling?’ he asked.

‘Wir fahren gegen N-gland,’ Keats said.

Chapman suddenly swallowed some medical potion he had been working at.

A friend of a Galway fisherman told me that German U-Boats have a base off the Aran Islands! It can't be found easily as it is disguised as a rocky outcrop. They have food, munitions and fuel stored there for emergencies.

There was a black man in the village today! Over with a circus from England. The caravan stopped outside Biddy's Post Office-Travel Agent-Groceriies-Licensed Premises-Operating Theatre-&-Fun Emporium and in he walked with another fella to ask for directions to Youghal. Poor Biddy.. she was so taken aback, she blurted out the directions to Killarney by accident.

Say what you like about him, but that Adolf Hitler has good taste in architecture.

Having said that, I hope he's not planning any major projects in Dresden. Beautiful city with loads of historic buildings

The thought just struck me my own date of birth is closer to the outbreak of world war 2 than it is to the current date.
In 100 years we’ll all be seen as roughly the generation after world war 2 our lives being lived much closer to the events of world war 2 and of little relevance to whatever is happening in 2121.
The less nuanced observers of the future will nearly see us as being part of it.

Your reading too much of that mein kampf that was just the ramblings of a young dissafected man in the aftermath of the bitter defeat in the Great War.
    Germany is different now.

Hitler is a pacifist now he says it himself he just wants what’s best for German people as any leader of any country would want.
Do you honestly think he would sign a non aggression pact with Stalin if he was hell bent on that lebensraum nonsense.
What’s he going to do with all the people currently living in these so called lebensraum areas just get rid of them? It’s impossible.
It’s all nonsense will never happen.

True enough but we'll need spares to keep them flying. Still it would be nice to have at least a few planes that could intercept a bomber if needed. Like going to bomb someplace important like the Dail or a major creamery.
