Can anyone confirm if this has started?
I searched for an N26 thread and this was the only one that came up so I thought I'd stick this here (maybe the thread can become an overall N26 thread after the current bridge project is complete?)
Phases 2 to 4 Traffic and Transport Assessment (including Economics) Consultancy Services for N26 Ballina Bypass Phase 1
Anyone have any idea if the bypass is likely to start north or south of the train station?
Surely, the bypass of Ballina would be the N59, with the (slightly truncated) N26 beginning at a new junction on the bypass?
It says N26 Ballina Bypass so I take that to be a new road from the N26 to the N59 on one side of the town, mostly the western side. If it said N59 bypass, that likely be from one side to the other with a junction with the N26, unfortunately it doesn't.
One of the 80 metre bridge beams on site last week. Pic from @TomGilliganMCC
Thanks - have the beams been lifted over river yet?
Pic from yesterday to answer your question. They're still working on the abutments. More pics here:
Thanks - cool photos
Bridge lift starting next week.
Good drive-by video here from just over a week ago showing the excellent progress made so far.
Good video. I didn't realise the extent of the rest of the road that they were doing - removing some very twisty bends after the bridge too. Good to see. It'd be good if this was on OSM too.
Thanks for posting. I thought I had posted the video but it was still in my drafts 😫 (Still trying to get to grips with this new site 😣 )
Liebherr crawler crane on site today for the bridge lift. Pic from Jack Walsh drone photography.
Live feed of the bridge lift will be available at the link above tomorrow (Friday). Also a time-lapse video of the crane being assembled.
Video of one of the beams being lifted in to place today.
Took a spin down to the bridge this evening. Heard there was a big crowd down there on Friday for the lift.
Good drone vid showing the new beam in place.
