Labour Saving and General Guntering

How about using this thread to show off our engineering skills (or lack of!)
A lot of us have home made or improvised labour saving tools / implements lying around. Similar to stuff in Farmers Journal labour saving compettions. (without the prize money:p).

Maybe we could use this thread to share interesting ideas and discuss improvements.

I don't have any pictures at the moment of my own but I will take some at the weekend if not before.

My own projects include:
Quick hitch for front loader (fairly rough but works), designed to fit Trima implements onto MF loader.
Adapter to fit bale lifter onto front loader.
Various other loader attachments spikes etc.

Current project is a wrapped bale transporter being built out of remains of an old Muck Spreader. (only just started, currently just an axle and draw bar).

Their maybe other stuff around too, I'll have to have a look.

So what are peoples opinions, is this a good idea for a thread?

We have an old JF spreader - I was tearing one Saturday evening, trying to finish up clearing out a shed and loaded it too much...
Like that - bust the chains, well, one of em... Had to empty the load of dung by hand...

Parked the spreader in the shed, headed out for the night...

That was 1994, spreader hasn't moved since... :rolleyes:

I'd have my doubts if the chains would move the lime back in the trailer?

Would it be an option to throw a bit of dung into the trailer, and then top it with lime and away you go?

I would do the same. The handbrake being on all the time causes the brakes to stick so I leave it off and put a chock at the wheel.

I have a combine engine sitting behind the trailer to go into it, whenever I get round to it.
The red strap was bought in the local agristore/fuel merchant in Ballyconnell., Cassidays. Only €15, and a good lenght.
The border actually runs through his yard, about 40 foot north of the diesel pumps.
When the Gardai fill with diesel, they mostly stay in the South...

Agree some of them definitely break up past the spring part but you might catch some of them with the rope anyway

If a tine falls off you'll hear it rattle and know to change it, plus there is no chance of it going up a baler.

More power to ya. Its yours, do as you please. I do recall a thread last year, where some were totally against the poor haybob. Seemingly only a contractor with a 150+hp machine should be allowed into a field these days.
