Rest in eternal peace, Dad. May your journey to Heaven be swift. You are surely experiencing an overwhelming sense of love right now, unimaginable to us, surrounded by souls all of whom love you infinitely.

It was a beautiful death with myself and Mom present- no evidence of pain, you just slipped gently away. The planet has had 83+ years of your presence and numerous people have numerous memories of your time here. We are all better for this.

Tuesday 9th February 2021, 21.23 hours

Death visited our home today
Its purpose- to collect the rent.
And Death demanded that we pay
Our Father's life in settlement.

This date we feared flagged in advance
We knew Dad's life would ebb away.
In time we too must learn to dance
With Death- for Death will have its day.

In vain we tried to lance this boil
In vain- because Death always wins.
One shuffles off this mortal coil
Soon after one's Death Dance begins.

Consumed by cancer, cell by cell
Dad's pancreas the deadly source.
His shrivelled frame evinced the Hell
This cruel disease wrought on its course.

The drugs- so many- for his ills
To aid digestion or ease pain.
A meal each day of coloured pills
For short-term hope and strength retain.

But resting now- no pain- no aches
His body stilled, his battle lost.
We cannot keep what Death now takes
Death's rent is paid, our grief the cost.

And while this day we mourn Dad's loss
His life-his soul- we celebrate.
In life, Dad always bore his cross
In death, his soul clears Heaven's Gate

Because our faith helps us endure
Our loss on this third day of seven
Dad's life- well-lived;his faith- so sure
Lets us believe his soul's in Heaven.

Please pray for all the people living in nursing homes, the frail, the elderly and the severely disabled, especially those who are currently in wards where Covid has been detected and those who are being mistreated or neglected and suffer badly because of it. Please also pray for the people who do look after them with care and attention, and even more for those who don't: may the Lord turn their hearts.

I heard recently that Ava Barry / Twomey has died at 13 yo.

People will remember her mother Vera who campaigned so hard for her little girl in relation to management of Ava's epilepsy condition.

It is so very sad to see that Ava's life has come to an end after all those struggles. May she rest in peace and may there be some comfort for her family.
