What's Good In The Supermarkets? (Excluding Aldi & Lidl)

Since we only have threads for recommending Aldi and Lidl stuff I thought I'd put this here: I had a yumnut from M&S (plain with icing, but they have other flavours) yesterday and they are absolutely delicious. Hands down the nicest doughnut type thing I've had in ages, way better than anything I've had in most of the doughnut shops that have popped up over the last years.

same as!! until the past week or so where the taste of Thailand stuff is finally back. I picked up a few 'fragrant wok beef noddle's', their sooo nice but as usual with M&S expensive!

The M&S dark chocolate single origin 100g bar range is superb and great value for single origin chocolate.

The 78% and 85% are really good in particular and the 100% is a great price for a 100%

The Tesco High Fibre bran cereal is excellent - less sugar and cheaper than all bran.

M&S Best Ever Lasagne lives up to its name - but since Brexit came in, their shelves have been full of gaps so not sure how easy it is to get now.

That looks amazing! I will be Straight into Bradley’s tomorrow (and a few of their beers won’t go astray either while I’m there too!)

I really dont think they are actually allowed to anymore. I remember my sister telling me what it should be classified as but i cant recall what it was exactly

enjoy - not an onion fan but lovvvving the Stokes' Garlic Mayo you recommended to me.. got a jar a few weeks ago and didn't think i'd get to use it all as the shelf life is only 6 weeks on opening... but i'm almost finished it.. will have to take a trip to DS Bishopstown Court to get another one :pac:

Cajun paste from M&S... delicious.. marinated/cooked a chicken breast with it for dinner yesterday - twas soo nice.. you can really taste the flavours.. smoked paprika, chipotle chilli, garlic etc.. hmm hmm.. highly recommend.. twill be great for BBQ chicken skewers when it gets warmer

Dunnes sell this duck pancake kit on offer most of the time - €5. It's an absolute bargain and so delicious. Some thinly sliced spring onions and cucumber and you're sorted. It's surprisingly filling. We sometimes have some stir fried greens on the side.

I love these, especially the mac and cheese and the beef casserole. I only didn't like the lasagne, I much prefer the Carrolls lasagne, but I think I'm the only one here who does.

EuroSpar stock a Lasagne called Chef in a Box in my nearest store 600gm for €5.00 and it was very nice, best shop bought I had in a long time.

I checked my local SV for lasagne and the deli make them but in a pretty big size. The one they had was 3.5kg and cost 21 euro. I reckon it would have yielded about 12 decent sized portions but its a bit too much for me as Id end up using 2 or 3 portions and then having to freeze the rest and space is tight at the moment till I eat through the two freezers. Interestingly I calculated the cost of the that great lasagne recipe over on the Cooking Club forum before also at 21 euro for all the cheeses and ingredients that go into it.

Got a rib eye steak instead which are 33% off this week, 14 something euro a kilo. Wasnt intending on getting on till I saw one with lovely marbling and then the sign above saying 33% off, happy days.

I also noticed that they seem to be doing a copy of Aldis 6oz rib steak burgers wrapped in bacon and with a cheese topper. Cheaper than Aldi too, 3.75 for two 6oz burgers whereas I think the Aldi version is something like 4.50. Will likely try them next week. They are very thick so I think they need cooking on the pan first and then to be finished in the oven, otherwise if you do them only in the pan they burn the bacon wrapping before the inside of the burger is fully cooked.

Probably worse than the aldi ones, and that's hard to beat.

Tesco finest coconut Greek yoghurt is delicious, especially in a smoothie.
Also tesos new homemade veg soup isn't bad. Much nicer than the cully ones anyway.
Not a fan of there pasta bakes as asked a few posts back, my kids like the meat ball ones but not for me
