There is a lot of useful info in the 2018 Thread but with the new grant structure I thought it would be useful to have a new reference thread for prices/package.

This will allow people to make a decision on what is currently available under the new Grant.

€11k + VAT less the €3000 grant for 4kw and 8.2 KW battery on a 2 story slate roof.

I saw someone on social media recently delighted they had gotten a 3kWp system with an eddi and NO batteries for €11.5k before grant (along with a completely superfluous hybrid inverter).

Yeah, I saw one similar on Facebook a while back. Got a slightly smaller system than I did, and paid about €11k or something. Absolutely scandalous.

One the one hand it's too late for that person so it's kinda sticking the boot in but for the benefit of others reading I did point out just how scandalous the price was. She wasn't amused.

Look very similar to my quote
14 panels 5kw inverter, just over 9500 pre grant. Just awaiting an install date.

Nice one hope it works out. Hoping to ground install 16 panels in coming weeks as shaded all year round and have current panels on west facing roof. Hoping to use other string on hybrid inverter. Best of luck with new install.

That's fairly reasonable, sligo based? Ground screws with galvanized triangular mounts?

It's 6.5kwp, and Ireland averages 800kW/kWp for a south facing ground mount. So 4500 is fairly conservative.

I went for the ground mount after and happy out with it.

375w X 16 Longi 6kWh 33 degrees south facing.

I get 6.5kWh between 12:30 and 2pm on a good day, best day got total of 45kWh.

Ground mount was €875+VAT, Concrete pads were €360, 40m SWA €180

I'd add pictures but the server is down..

Just checked the quote details and this is what is listed:

Solis Dual 6000 Inverter 4G with DC inverter

All the technology of it all is way beyond my understanding - I am just looking to get a decent system installed. When the companies gives me the specs I have no idea what I am comparing against or what is good or bad.

We have a small bungalow and one side of the roof faces east and the other side faces west.

That quote from company 1 for the battery option might well be double what you expect to pay. Truly shocking.

Did company 2 give you a battery option given the size of the system?

2nd Quote is decent, the Eddi is a more premium HW diverter, and can intergrate with other myenergi stuff down the line.

The closer you can get to (or below) €1 /Wp (Watt panel) the better

With a East West split, you will catch the early and late sun, So a longer but lower curve, Which in a lot of cases is good, esp without any battery.

Upgrading to a battery system, is that Excluding grants or including grant?

Well, with the third, you cant get the SEAI approval without selecting a installer, and you wouldnt select a installer without a quote.

If you get a 2.4 battery quote 2 should be nearly the same as you'll get another grant.

Don't even pick up the phone if the first crowd ever phone you back.

As others have said, that last paragraph crowd are talking BS, don't touch them.

The second quote is also very high, as a reference I got a 7.4kWp system with 5kWh hybrid inverter and 2.4kWh battery for €5.6k after grant and fitted EDDI afterwards (should only be €400-€500 max for EDDI included).
So the second system with 3.5Kw battery at €9.2k is laughable.
We are not allowed to name companies here but at least you know you should further your quotes, PM me if you want the installer details for my setup.

We finally have lift off.
I got a ber done after putting in a new oil boiler at Christmas to ensure I would get to a c2 if I went with solar as a service and get the grant

The last ber done by the previous owner was in 20 14 and a d2.
My result was a C1. So I'm good to go with the solar pv.

Edit : a, question for you. Am I better to get my new figures uploaded to the seai before the application goes in.? Will they approve it before the work is started based on having a C1.
The website seems to suggest it won't be unless I can prove I'll have a c minimum post work

For my own original install with them I had to apply online for the grant which there is not much to and they then handled everything after that

From digging through and asking around, I think I can go to a max of 14 panels per string without violating any of the limits.

Dont think I'll bother adding to the west face, but I'll definitely add 5 more to the south face set. The current portrait 9 and 5 more landscape.

So based on replies so far I think I’m going to receive a shower of rocks for this but here goes:

20 x 325w peimar panels
5kw huawei hybrid inverter
Hot water boost thingy
10525 AFTER grant

With 5kw huawei battery
13925 AFTER 3k grant

Given comments on the thread it sounds like maximising panels is the right thing to do, so the setup seems right..? Would anyone have a recommended supplier for something similar?
