With the recent addition of the Off-topic discussion thread, I am closing the current McGregor thread so that chat going forward can be located in the correct threads. This thread is for MMA related discussion only - any other gossip/showbiz type stories are to be discussed in the off topic thread.

Please make sure to review the updated charter before posting - there have been some amendments made in light of these changes and in posting here you are at all times expected to follow those rules and guidelines.

As before there is a strict rule on no chat to be had here about legal issues or court cases as per the charter - this is a strict no go regardless of where it has or hasn't been posted in the media it is not allowed on boards.ie at all. This is not up for debate and it has been said multiple times now.

That’s certainly one aspect of it. Personally I would have expected him to be in the gym, working on kickboxing and TDD. On the other hand, if he was in there doing the usual. They’d also be comments of “he needs to work his cardio” not his striking.

Regardless, my point about rematches stands outside of any training comments.

Seems to think he only need to train in fight camp, im sure Dustin has been in the gym learning and brushing up on techniques while Conor just barely keeping himself ticking over soing hos own cardio work outs

Conor seems deluded,

Unless as i said before he knows something we don't, as in some kind of injury or problem going inot the last fight, it all seemed to nice to calm like he didn't feel like ge could ve brass or confident,

I would say they will be heading out soon for the camp or he'll be heading back.

There’s a few things that often happen with rematches.
People overlook of the loser of the previous fight.
And also can’t see past the way that fight went.
Also the odds do a huge flip.

In Jan fight Dustin was a big underdog. Conor could potentially be the underdog here.

The idea that Floyd was playing with Conor was was taking rounds off is just aftertiming IMO.

Floyd won the fight and deserves all the credit for that.

Conor won early rounds and deserves credit for that too.

Yeah that's very bizarre I thought conor used to not prepare for a fighter back in the day but then decided that this wasn't the right approach, isn't preparing for a particular fighter 'using tactics'. Its just a goading tactic, he knows his only hope biggest strength/advantage comes when the opponent stands and trades with him. He spoke a lot about real fighting in the build up to the Mayweather fight for example and how limited he would be under boxing rules but he doesn't actually want a "real" fight and all that goes with it, he wants to stand and bang - its where he see's his advantage in the competition. Not good enough to be an actual boxer but plenty good enough for most of the guys in the UFC if they just stand in front of him (at LW and below)

I wouldn't see mcgregor losing to mayweather as a sign of him being a poor fighter. I always see that fight as the loss of mcgregors real interest in the UFC.

So much less damage and risk and so much more money.

I do think switching to boxing and not competing in UFC for that amount of time really damaged him as a UFC fighter. He was at his prime when he started swapping back and forth and has never really recovered.

It was a massive money maker for Conor but was always a non contest and no shock to be fair, I was surprised he did as well as he did.

They aren’t official weighings. They could rock up in shoes, and clothes, or whatever.

Just like Khabib knew being one of the bigger guys suited his skill set at LW and never went anywhere near WW,
