Cartier Tank would be my first choice off the top of my head anyway. With a quartz movement, because otherwise it'll likely stay in a drawer, unless she'd wear it every day.

Sounds to me like she's not really into watches so I wouldn't advise buying her one, maybe a Skagen quartz but not for that kind of money.
Find something she's interested in to spend your money on.

"Once it tells time..." usually means a lady might be happy with Cartier - ladies know the red box, almost as well as the blue (Tiffany) box.

If you do get a Cartier - I don't recommend getting it on a leather strap - Cartier are master jewellery makers - their bracelets are a big selling point of their watches and MsThirdfox has always found them super comfortable.

Cartier tank quartz all day long. Timeless elegant design without being blingy like those horrible diamond encrusted Rolex and Omega watches. Also a brand she will recognise and respect.

Quartz tank for sure, my wife also has a Rolex lady president and it almost never has the correct time unless I set it .

DO not get her that Navitimer, its a acquired taste.

I suggest the Tank Quartz also, my wife has one and its a great watch. About 2400 euro. A classic.

Other option is a 31-36mm datejust Rolex, would have to go used but a Rolex is a Rolex.

Avoid fashon watches, they are junk. A good well know brand will always get the kudos.

Raymond Weil, great selection, women love them. I bought my wife a Cartier tank as an engagement present, a Jaeger reverso for a significant birthday and a Raymond Weil as a beater and she’s equally happy wearing that.

Yeah, it's a very personal decision in my humble. I know someone who got a Cartier Tank as an anniversary present and never wears it. Treasures it for what it represents but.. She just isn't taken with the design and would have picked something different.

This buck would not get a bang for a grand Seiko anyway. Tank is the classic of all classics. I don't think it can be beat without spending twice as much on an omega or 4 times on a Rolex. Everything else is a fashion watch really and likely to go in and out with the fashion
