Honda Jazz 09 timing chain

Hi,

Recently bought a honda jazz 2009 for wifey, I was told by the seller that it has timing chains so no need to worry about any belt replacing. I am just wondering when do you actually replace the timing chain? Car has 185,500km on it.

Most important thing is regular oil and filter change when needed. Stretched chains rattle on cold start up until oil pressure comes up. Not heard of issues or when needing to get done on Honda engines.

Chain should last forever usually, just depends how long forever is. The rattle can be quite loud though so it's not unheard of to change a chain.
The thing to watch is the chain tensioner, the Celica had a problem with chain tensioner leaks at back of engine.

Actually how many spark plugs in it, some say 4 some say 8. I haven't checked it myself yet.

Think 4 and some civics had 8 expensive ones.

Is it i-DSi or i-VTEC?

If it’s the newer I-VTEC engine it has 4, if it’s i-DSi it’ll have 8.

Did not have vtec written on it must be the i-DSI plus I haven't experience any "when vtec kicks in" with higher rpm.

I’d say if it’s 09 it’s nearly has to be i-VTEC

Either way it’s a timing chain, and they don’t usually give trouble.

Hi Colm,

Got the jazz serviced today and it has 8 spark plugs the rear ones are quite hard to replace, previous owner only replaced the front ones. Didn't bother with the rear spark plugs.

Oh all 8 had been replaced, what I'm saying was that the previous owner never bother replacing the 4 rear plugs, also had to replace 2 ignition coils, cause it broke off, 2 ignition coils costs €118 - not really cheap.

Make a note of mileage and date plugs were changed as memory is bad so you will remember in 2 years time and if you have a handbook write it in rear.
