They haven't said what power but probably 7-11kW given the number of chargers Still plenty of juice for people travelling a few hours to the park, staying for half the day and then the car is topped enough to go home without a charging stop
AndyBoBandy wrote: » Brilliant. They already have extensive charging facilities onsite.
Something like this would be great in Tayto Park... Would really encourage folk to go (when the 'blip' is over!!) from afar. It's a place where you'd spend at least 3-4 hours at a time. 7-11kW would be more than enough, and you reserve the spots when booking your park tickets, paying a nominal fee of say €5 to get unlimited use of the charger while you're at the park (the €5 is also justified, as you get a prime spot right next to the entrance). Start off by installing 10/20 units, and if they are regularly busy, install another 10 and so on....
the_amazing_raisin wrote: » Hotels are another place I'd like to see proper AC charging parks. The Holiday Inn near Heathrow Airport has something like 20 AC chargers. If I'm ever driving to London, that's where I'm gonna stay, there should be no issues getting a charger there. 7kW is fine for an overnight stay so instead of the usual 2x22kW posts you could install 6x7kW chargers with the same AC supply
AndyBoBandy wrote: » Best I've seen in Ireland is Kelly's Resort in Rosslare Strand... 7 Tesla units (4 of them are designated Tesla only, the other 3 are for any Type 2 car). When I plugged in I got 11kW, so I'd guess there are powered to 22kW. We only stopped in for lunch, but swore we'd be back for a stay as the place looks lovely...
the_amazing_raisin wrote: » I like how you used one of the pleb EV chargers Much better than the usual one dusty charger most hotels have, if they have any charging. We booked one place in Waterford for this summer and I noticed it has an AC charger. I emailed asking if it was possible to reserve the charger or whether I should ask on the day and I got a prompt response saying it was broken Maybe I'll buy one of those QUBEV chargers and pack my screwdrivers and just swap out the broken one while I'm there
Black_Knight wrote: » Stayed in the Cliff house hotel about 2 years ago and was told I could use the charger if it was available. No one was using it when I arrived, but the valet said it was broken, but would granny cable me if I liked. Between checkin and checkout it was like 20 hours. Granny cable be grand.

the_amazing_raisin wrote: » Yeah I'd be happy to use a granny cable if there's a plug available. Bit hit and miss as to whether the hotel will be okay with it, although might be different now as EVs are getting more mainstream
Black_Knight wrote: » Cliffhouse were sure to ask whether I needed to charge to get to my next destination. Felt a bit petty (a nights stay aint cheap) but they obliged. You'd hope so. Some hotels might just "greenwash"/booking.com washing and put a charger in but have no intention of maintaining it. Hotel can state it has a charger, EV drivers will stay there over other hotels without one, win for the hotel. Feedback/reviews/plugshare etc will curb that though, as more and more EVs are becoming a norm.
