I was delivered then out onto the floor, helpless like a baba, roaring.” He said he hurt his leg “all the way from the kneecap up to the top of my thigh. I broke nothing but muscle has come off bone or tendons are stretched, something like that. The ribs are done in as well. The ribs weren’t from being hit, the ribs were from some weird stretch that I did in the fall. He joked: “As I was falling I was just focused entirely on the whiskey.”

I drank it straight with ice last night for the first time and really enjoyed it. I think I was expecting to be harsh, but it was actually quite smooth. I'd happily have it as a regular tipple. I bet I'd be rubbish at blind tasting, but after "exhaustive":D testing / sampling during lockdown over the past year, I've come to the conclusion that paying more for a whiskey doesn't always mean I'll prefer it to a less expensive one. I think I'll stock up on a few more of the standard Jameson, Powers, Paddy and Bushmills. Be interesting to see how they compare to the more expensive bottles.
Black Sheep wrote: » Powers Gold Label is grand to drink neat, as is Jameson, although of the two it's Powers all the way for me. It's funny in some ways that we've been marketed to believe that whiskies like this are only suitable for mixing, not true. Personal view, I think Gold Label is as good as Three Swallows for far less. Now, the discontinued Powers 12 year old special reserve... That was a step up.
