Very few have come from poor backgrounds with the exception of Gary Player and maybe a few others. It costs a lot of money to become a professional golfer.

Really hope Spieth knocks Kuchar out, not just for financial reasons but I think for obvious reasons I have really soured on Kuchar over the last couple of years.

Commentators said it prob wasn't the first time it had happened and tbf to Na, although it was within the rules for him to claim the hole (Kuchar v Garcia a few years ago) he had a word instead.

I'm obviously in the minority but I love the format. Guaranteed you get to see the big names for 3 days and great to see a few further down the rankings settle their hash now and again. The playoffs yesterday were brilliant TV especially with a few matches going the extra holes. I would hope they keep this format long term

Jon Rahm (3) is the only one of the top 20 seeds to make it out of the groups. I think this format makes it even less likely than straight knockout for the higher seeds to advance.

More than likely going to be a very unappealing final this year, might watch the football Sunday night or maybe even something even more constructive!

Kuchar versus Streelman or Mackensie Hughes would be a no for me. Kuchar versus anyone would nearly be a no for me but I'd probably watch one of the Europeans hopefully beat him.

If your company is putting money into an event you want the top players around as long as possible.

It’s like when woods play. No matter what’s his score is he’s in coverage as he pulls in viewers. I don’t agree with it but that’s what it is.

Interesting of players in knockout phase is a lot of them around that top 50 spot in world rankings. Makes it a bit interesting in that way.

Good to see all the Irish players making cut on smaller event this week

I reckon Scheffler will put it up to Poulter tomorrow though. I'd expect Rahm to get through against Van Rooyen.

Would also like to see Spieth go far.

Knockout would be my preference too, it was way more exciting, but I think the top 32 would be preferable to top 64. If nothing else there'd be a more appealing last 16, on paper at least.
