Its five 8hrs shifts but don’t expect Monday to Friday, roster will be according to business needs.

I’ve been given a training date of 12 April, thanks to all contributors here for their help . Customs Dublin , I was OOM 45 btw .

Yes, I was aware that the shifts work on a 24/7 rota, just was not sure if they were 12 hour shifts or 8 hour shifts. Agriculture have implemented 12 hour shifts at some of there terminals at Dublin Port. Thanks for letting me know about the hours, much appreciated.

Hi all, just an update on how long the panel will stay open. I emailed Pas last week to ask and have just received this reply:

“There is no set end date for this panel as of yet. Typically, panels remain active for 12-18 months, this panel has been active since June 2020.”

I hope this is good news for some of you! I’m next in line for a position in my county so I’m feeling a bit more confident now that I’ll be reached before the panel ends!

Also is it possible to get a mortgage as a single person once probation is done? Or is the salary for clerical too low?

As a new start CO you'd likely be in the office quite a bit as you'll need to be trained and for them to get a sense of you. You might get one day a week WFH after a few weeks. It will vary by exactly where your placed.

Times the salary by 3.5 and see if that's enough when you add your 10% deposit. Assuming point two* on the scale thats €26,195 x 3.5 = 91682 + 10% is approx 101K. Wee bit more with the scheduled pay increases outside of increments.

*You'd be on point two after the years probation.

Some brokers such as ICS and MC Financial specialise in mortgages for public sector workers. They go up 2 points on your pay scale and some regular allowances/overtime are taken into account.

You'll get a mortgage but it'll be 3.5 times your salary.

I finished OOM54 in Dublin after interview. I was advised today I will begin 2 weeks training on 19th April. Thanks for all the advice on here. I found it all to be really helpful and accurate.

Hi all,

I was recently assigned a position in an INTREO centre and just have one concern. I am quite heavily tattooed and conscious that while my tattoos were hidden during the interview, they will be immediately visible when I begin working.

I have no issues wearing long sleeves year round if I have to in order to cover my arms, but I do have tattoos on my knuckles, hands and palms. Will this cause me any trouble in the long run, perhaps at the end of my probation or when the time comes to apply for promotion etc?

It might not help during promotion depending on who you get on an interview panel but in all other respects I wouldn't worry about it. We had a CO, made up to EO whose department lobbied to keep on promotion who was very heavily tattooed on the arms and his casual dress style did nothing to hide them.

I would not worry about it. Maybe 10 years ago would've been an issue, but now it's definitely not. The culture and the view on tattoos have changed. I've worked in retail for 8 years, I remember when I started there was a girl who had tattoos and was asked to cover them. After 8 years, when I was leaving the company, half of the staff had tattoos and no word from HR. So do not worry. Before tattoos had a bad reputation, now it is an excepted form of art on your body. I've seen a cashier in a bank with a tattoo on her wrist and she was not hiding it. So don't worry.

Thanks for sharing this. Sorry I can't answer your question re vetting but I am also in batch 21 OOM early 40s, so this definitely gives me some hope! Best of luck!!

What's the likelihood of getting a job from this panel if you're mid-2000s OOM in Dublin and haven't even got an invitation to interview yet?
