Hi all,
Currently working with an architect on our first home.
Married couple, hoping to start a family in the near future.
In the current concept plans, its is a 2 up 2 down approach to the bedrooms.
With the master bedroom upstairs.
One concern we have is with young children, we are not sure how having only one other bedroom on the same floor as the master bedroom would work.
I am looking to see if others have any experience of this, and what their opinions are of it.

Wouldn't be comfortable with very young kids on a different floor to my bedroom, especially if they were downstairs and I was upstairs. Wouldn't have too much problem if kids were upstairs and main bedroom downstairs though. I think kids having their own floor could work quite well. Could you put three smaller rooms upstairs and one bigger room downstairs?

Put a toddler gate across the stairs. Sorted. They are only small for a short time. Personally I wouldn’t let this dictate the layout.
