Actually Martin was quoted on Friday that a two-island approach was under consideration. Pretty much what I have been saying all along.

Why would calling someone a 'partitionist' dehumanise them? Is there a guilt complex there? If you wish partition to continue then you are a partitionist just as you are a unionist if you want to bring something together.

We have Irish unionists, UK unionists and partitionists here.All human beings. Fairly simple.

I am not in denial of anything. I think those who heard one of the coalition leaders promise NEVER to coalesce with the other party are those in Trumpian denial.

We have had posts on here saying FF supporters no longer exists. A thread then created to try and confirm that. In the FG thread we have someone saying FG is in "tatters". Im sure plenty of posts as well about the demise of the Greens.

Why are Sinn Fein not demanding an election? sure they would romp home with 70-80% would they not?

If the government falls there will be an election. I was for another election since this shambles emerged from the last election. It has been chaos from the start.

OK fair enough.
I think the quarentine idea is for people with no test and coming in from certain countries because of variants in the virus, I get that.
But if its going to be effective and people can still travel through northern airports and sea ports and travel on through the North border unhindered then it's pointless imo as these variants will get through anyway.
So I'm just saying that if you're in favour of one without the other it's a bit of a hypocrisy is it not?

Gardai checking at the boarders on travellers if necessary. Sent back if your journey is not emergency or part of essential work. The idea is that zero covid might not be achieveable but zero covid us the target. No amount in the community should be accepted. The Taoiseach saying 100-200 cases yesterday was ridiculous. Have a read about how actual doctors are talking about zero covid if you want more information.

One thing Ireland has always excelled at is attracting the Worlds top companies and with them the high paying jobs. The employee's in these companies are paying a huge percentage of Ireland income tax.
If only the current government was as successful at running the country as they are at attracting these companies.

Well business needs predicability. I would imagine the current situation is an absolute nightmare for planners. The open and close nature of the last few months would have really hampered SME's. That said I'd imagine multinationals have faired better. Not only that but larger companies have more financial muscle and capital raising capabilities to weather 2/3 years of turmoil .
SME's are a different story however and them having their markets and operations disrupted would be fatal in alot of cases. They wouldn't have the supports bar whatever they can get from government and capital reserves would be quickly exhausted. I think the best way to help SME's would be to have the domestic economy up and running again. The only way this could be done would be adopting the zero covid mindset.
