The comparison was silly. Walsh could be argued as the worst of those three and Mayo sacrificed their best player on Saturday to follow him everywhere. If Walsh jumped into the first row of concrete benches around the edge, Keegan would've hopped in beside him. Hardly conductive to getting easy space and ball

Keith is probably in the top 3 to ever play for Mayo.
It really feels that great team is gone with his retirement.
It wasn't that unexpected but it still is a shock,I hope Zippy enjoys a few years with his first love hurling and a good few playing club aswell.

If he had been from a traditional hurling county he would have been a fixture with their seniors. Hurling was/is his love, football was something he tolerated!!!

Great player. Gave definition to the term go forward ball, was at his best breaking tackles and going forward

I think if he had waited wing forward in 2012 we’d have won that game, he had the dubs on the ropes. Think it was Cunniff who went off and he moved back. A mistake IMO

I feel that out of all the Mayo players that deserved an All Ireland in the last decade, Keith Higgins deserved it the most.
So reliable, a driving force, and made corner back play exciting to watch.
He has a place at corner back on the team of my generation. From a Meath man.

His duel with O'Donoghue in 14 was immense. Higgins couldn't have done more yet was taken for a goal or two.. Possibly second only to Marc ó sé as the top corner back of his playing time..

Higgins was and it one of the great Mayo Gaels, be it football or hurling he gave it his all. Enjoy the retirement you have been a giant. From a Dub, the biggest waste of his talent was marking an injured O’Gara, we got lucky that day.
