Wednesday will start wet and very windy. Strong to near gale force and gusty southeasterly winds will veer south to southwesterly during the morning and gradually ease during the afternoon. It will remain mostly cloudy with scattered heavy showers merging to longer spells of rain at times. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.
The strong winds will gradually abate but not until after an interval of strong westerly winds around Galway Bay,
