Son looking to get into PC gaming , but he doesn't know where to start. (Or I)

I was willing to buy him a PC to start out - mid to higher end.

What sort of price we looking at - and any makes, websites anyone can recommend,

Any good offers out there even with black Friday etc - or are we better off waiting till New Year.

He was talking about VR capability - any comments or suggestions welcome.

Any shop we can go to in this specific area - Dublin City.

You usually save money by building it yourself, it's also a nice father/son project to do together.

I'm not great to be honest at that stuff - I'm willing to buy something decent for him to start.Then let him work on his own from there.

Including a monitor/keyboard/mouse etc you may need to adjust expectations. Couldbe looking closer to 1.2-1.5k

He wants to use Oculus quest 2 on a gaming PC - but sadly one of above only has a Graphics card at 3GB does not support what we want to use it for and need a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Desktop6 GB - was looking good - we will check if this could be upgraded ?

Thanks for that his heart was set on it - but graphics card does not support VR head set.

based on the ad he has an i7 (unknown version) and a 1060 (unknown mobo) you could upgrade it, but why is he selling it? Not a fan of adverts tbh

Tbh you would be better off posting the in https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=842 forum with your budget and you and the kid building it yourself (or taking their advice on a pre build).

bear in mind the occulus has a price too.

Old enough spec but still powerful enough for VR and new games to run well. Definitely much better value than the two adverts links posted earlier. Just be aware you wouldn't be able to upgrade the CPU down the line without buying a new motherboard.

That is actually one of the best priced systems on adverts to be fair. For the price, and assuming the seller would probably take 10% less, it's a solid buy.

Caveat would be that it's a dead end platform, but still good and amazing GPU for that price range.

I'm a bit out of the loop with the prebuilts. I was going to look at awd-it purely based on a few people here had bought machines from them but I can't seem to get on to the website.
