Yep....but that was asking price, very reasonable guy wanted to do a deal and a deal was done. Paid less for it than the card I am waiting for from overclockers.

This should tide me over.....My strix went from 365 on the list in overclockers to 345....so at this rate should have one next christmas, got impatient and got this on adverts from a very nice seller.

If I knew for sure that a 20GB was launching in December (more rumblings online rtoday) I would wait....have no real interest in the AMD offering tbh dont know why but I hope its competitive to relieve at least some of the pressure on stock.

Worth a shot if they're taking preorders on it and you're happy to wait (or try cancel in case something comes up in the mean time). They've cleared down the Palit backorder completely, but aren't taking more preorders on them. Lead times all depend on what shipments they get in really tbh.

Just looking at scan.co.uk there, and the stock inventory was updated today at 2:30pm. They have 3,681 RTX 3080 pre orders across all brands, with EVGA and Asus the most sought after with 1,963 between them.

I am after the Gigabyte Vision 3080 (White) and they have 528 orders currently for gigabyte cards, cant see too many being for the white one tbh. Might pull the trigger and hope that with 500 orders I might see a card in the next month???

They're online only I think. Nvidia have stopped selling on their site and are using best buy as a partner instead

I ran some benchmarks on my son's PC today, while he was in school.
The MSI RTX 3090 Trio Gaming X is very quiet, even under load.

Temps went a bit higher though, 75C. His case fans are not configured properly, I think. Must investigate.

So rambling thoughts after 24 hours with a 3090...

I'm getting about 16k on 3dMark Time Spy, when others tend to get around 19k-20k. I suspect this is due to the lower frequency of CPU, an i9 7900, which has a base of 3.3Ghz. Not actually an issue in the real world though, as it doesn't impact the science work it'll be doing.

Improvements in games are fairly obvious though. AC: oddyssey shows a 50 to 100% improvement. Control went from 35-40 fps, to 70FPS, and that's with the addition of ray-tracing.

The fans are noisy under load. Not anywhere near the vacuum cleaner levels of past cards like the 480, but noticeable enough and annoying. An EK waterblock is already pre-ordered for it.

That said, the temps are very good on it, only hitting about 70C, which is impressive for it's power, both in terms of watts and computational ability.

Its a bit of a joke isn't it,no stock,inflated prices,scalping.

Just bare naked greed. The GPU market needs more competition. Its not healthy the way it is for anyone other than the companies currently making the GPUs.

Consumers are at their mercy.

After advancing only 4 places in the 3080 EVGA gaming black que on scan, despite ordering within 40 mins of launch, I've caved and ordered a 2070 super last night. I'll try and update in the new year, or sooner if big navi stock is more accessible. Unbelievable how they handled / launched with essentially no stock. Fair play to scan though for being so open about stock and shipments.

Not my aesthetic personally but I'd be interested in that fan configuration, there seems to be intuitive sense to mirroring the middle fan.

Id say in an all white rig like mine the purple would not be a problem. Be different if there was purple accents all over the card.

Have seen a few builds on Reddit with it, the silver strip is more purple than in the Gigabyte marketing photos from the looks of it. If it was silver it'd be class.

But to be honest at the moment the lead times are pretty much all the same at the moment, and I haven't actually seen many places listing that card. Have a feeling unless Nvidia steps up big time we could be still waiting until Christmas for mass stock.

I really like it as its very unique, Love the silver front and back and the white shroud. The RGB is very subtle on it also with just the gigabyte name lighting up.....Would you say the lead time would be less as its white then the other 3080s.

Dont think I can wait till Dec/Jan for the "Rumoured" 20GB cards.

When the PC is booting the powerdraw may be spiking reaching the limit the PSU can do reliably.

The CPU boots up with just one core working, it shouldn't push the PSU anywhere near its limits at that point.
Maybe the overclock was too aggressive and maybe the new GPU pushed the motherboard power limits more, and this is why the overclock failed, because of power noise in the motherboard. I think I've seen a review video, maybe from GN, saying they measured more than 75W.
