Labour Saving and General Guntering

How about using this thread to show off our engineering skills (or lack of!)
A lot of us have home made or improvised labour saving tools / implements lying around. Similar to stuff in Farmers Journal labour saving compettions. (without the prize money:p).

Maybe we could use this thread to share interesting ideas and discuss improvements.

I don't have any pictures at the moment of my own but I will take some at the weekend if not before.

My own projects include:
Quick hitch for front loader (fairly rough but works), designed to fit Trima implements onto MF loader.
Adapter to fit bale lifter onto front loader.
Various other loader attachments spikes etc.

Current project is a wrapped bale transporter being built out of remains of an old Muck Spreader. (only just started, currently just an axle and draw bar).

Their maybe other stuff around too, I'll have to have a look.

So what are peoples opinions, is this a good idea for a thread?

I have 4 inch steel posts around silage pit, cut 4 inch sewer pipe lenghtwise and put around posts as concrete was setting

If you coat the plastic tube in oil or grease when filling the concrete you could pull it out when the concrete has set. Give it a few turns after a few hrs and it'll fly out the next day. The resulting hole is about 82 mm in diameter

How wide is the gap that you're closing ? Is it basically a gate way ?

Large car tyre and fill it with concrete put either a timber or steel post in the middle of the concrete . Once dried you have a movable post

You got to love when old machines have a shiny new part or panel, it shows they are cared for just enough, but not just old ****e tarted up pretending to be something it's not.

Ya, but it's like Father Teds car....
I started by trying to fix the control that means it won't go left rotation on the cab,, small bit of wear on a pin.. and now the alternator is out, the waterpump seal needs changing, the seat had to be fixed.. will post a picture of that.. and I painted the engine cover....

Would any of ye know of someone who could restore my old JCB 3cx ? I'd like to give it a bit of TLC. Everything else in it is nearly new except the paint. It's the last piece of the project.

what part of the country?

I've had problems trying to get someone to respray a loader for me. First lad agreed a price then vanished. Second lad had to be hounded to come look at it, in the end he sent his father who had not interest in it but would rather talk about the price of cattle. Never got a quote from him. Third lad wanted 2500 for a start and insisted it be delivered to his yard as well.

Lad down south of callan does a lot of trailer blasting and spraying uses real good.paint too. Know exactly where he is just cant remember his name

What’s the best way to do it?
Have a shed with a lean to which is only 8ft at the back but want to keep the door 9ft 6 so when the door is open it will be higher than the roof iykwim.

Sounds like a fair price to me if he is supplying all the bits and bobs.

I did think that - might have to give it a dummy run - plenty of broken tines about the place :pac:
