Details from the dail on the eCars €10,000,000 expansion programme.

The key elements include six high speed charging hubs on motorways capable of charging eight vehicles simultaneously; 16 high speed charging hubs capable of charging four vehicles simultaneously; additional high power chargers at 34 current 50 kW locations; upgrading over 50 22 kW chargers to 50 kW, and replacing up to 264 locations with 528 charge points at the pre-existing pilot grade of 22 kW to next generation high reliability models.

Does anyone know if you still need to pay for parking at the Luas park and ride stops if you're AC charging now that the charging costs money? I've always left the car at the DC charger and not paid for parking and it's been fine. It would be handy to leave it AC charging just for a top up for 30-45 mins when shopping in the evening, the car park is mostly empty at that time anyway.

Yup. NI is free. 4 campers (OCCUPIED units) at the moment, all in the north.

When I get some time some evening i'll start capturing the port status. It looks as though you need to query each individual unit to get that detail though. The call i'm making just returns whether, based on your filters, the unit is available. For this reason i've removed AC43 from my filter (a unit is available when DC is in use if you're open to using AC43). Sorry Zoe drivers. I might just capture port status a few times a day, rather than every 5 minutes.

There probably isn't that much camping on NI fast chargers, because most of them are located in petrol stations in the middle of nowhere. Boucher Road and Sprucefield ones might see a bit of overstaying, but even there I doubt it.

I would suspect the NI chargers are seeing much higher utilisation than the ones in the South, they still don't have to pay.

Decided to scrape ESB for the charge point status. Not put much thought into it, but I can see individual charge point activity over time, how many overall are working (available, charging, occupied) vs how many are unavailable (offline, unavailable, unknown, faulted). It's very high level at the moment, but i'd like to expand it to highlight dead ports on units. A FCP might be available, but if CCS isn't working on it it's not very useful. The whole nationwide charging network down. You couldn't make it up. In the private sector, the responsible person would have been sacked already.

Even when charging was free they wouldn't allow free-vend. If a charger went out of communication it simply wouldn't allow a charge. A truly stupid way to run a charging network.

ESB ecars has a lot to answer for, but no-one is asking the hard questions... in fact, any questions.

If that gets out, that the national network can go out completely, stranding commuters etc., it'll fuel the anti EV lobby & further set back mass adoption.

Yes pretty much, alongside people who go to troll.
I was on the committee a few years ago and left as there were too many chiefs and not enough direct representation. I was wasting my time. Looks like the new additions to the committee are doing a better job than their predecessors collective efforts.

It was clear from the meetings with ecars, CER/CRU etc that all the association was interested in doing was acquiescing to the story-line at tha time.
