The Darkroom wrote: » Hi, I live in a townhouse I had a neighbour across the road come over and clean these neighbours driveways of moss, dirt and grime off their driveway. They didn't let me know beforehand so I could at least move my car. Now my car is covered in moss, dirt and grime. The neighbours footpath looks great but they pushed all the moss with the power wash to my side of the house and on my doorstep. Normally, I don't like to be the idiot neighbour and have let it slide in the past, but I can't do that anymore. I'm unable to speak with them as...to be honest...they're very aggressive and discussion with them just isn't possible. I was advised I can send them a solicitors letter to seek payment for having to wash my car, driveway and the windows of my house. If they had at least warned me before that would have been fine. Everyone else knew they were doing it and moved their cars except me and they knew I was at home in the house somewhere. What can I do as I'm not the legal threatening sort? Should I leave it?

I hate to say it but...you know the sort, there's very little intelligence there and I don't like being mean towards them or anyone else as there's good people out there but...you know the sort.
august12 wrote: » I know exactly what you mean, have you problems with both the one who did the power washing and the neighbours who got the job done.
The Darkroom wrote: » Yes, I've problems with nearly all of them. Me and my kids are living like hermits in the house I can't let them out to play with their children and they've been jumped by them. I come from a very council background, grew up did well for myself abroad and came home. Hit hard times and ended up you know where... My dad is advising me not to go down the legal root as he thinks it will escalate and they'll think of something to accuse me of. But they don't look like the sort that can afford it and I don't want to sound snotty or anything. But I think I might just take his power hose and put it back in their direction and they won't be getting a knock on the door to move their car either. I've a security camera there anyway so any problems I run into it's all recorded. I got them installed for that reason as me BMW has been the target of their kids. I've no protection for it as it's literally in a parking space and there's no enclosed driveway protecting tenants cars. It's a joke. I just have to move and have been thinking of just going back into the expensive renting system. One thing I've learned is that you really can't put a price on peace of mind.

The Darkroom wrote: » Some people were in that situation and the for sale signs were not long going up. Imagine working your whole life to get a mortgage only to find out social housing is popping up across the road from you? Don't get me wrong, me and some families in the social housing are an exception to the rule but generally speaking....theres a handful of knackers. There's no way in hell I'd be happy having the same house living across the road from that sort whose kids will be older one day and that's when the trouble starts. I felt sorry for them as one fella had his car window smashed by the family who thought it was a good idea to power wash and dirty my car today. Same family goes over to these nice calm folk and shouts at them for giving out to their kids to stay away from their cars (cars are scratched to bits I had to scrap my own vehicle and get a new one because someone went to absolute town on it). And because people saw my vehicle being scratched they assumed it was my kids doing it so I got a new car, took my kids off the street altogether and had some cameras installed. Absolute nightmare. People attack me because they're afraid to confront the other crowd across the road. They view me as weak and easy game. I've never had any problems with the mortgaged people. I lived in that situation myself but I'll be going back to buying or renting. I'm so glad I'm not grounded here in a mortgage though and when I go looking to rent or buy I'll be making sure it's a house in the absolute buck arse of nowhere far away from the general public :pac::D

The Darkroom wrote: » I never claimed I was better than the neighbours so how do you know what it is I'm thinking without that evidence? Making assumptions about how I feel better than my neighbours isn't sufficient. My house was already clean before they sprayed it, and when it comes to spending, I think it's safe to assume I'm entitled to run my own financial affairs and spend on what I can afford. Besides, the BMW was given to me as a gift which goes to show just how empty headed people like yourself can be when making such airhead comments to others on the internet without any prior knowledge of the person you're speaking with.
