So the PS5 is 390mm high, just measured my PS4(non pro) on an official stand and it's 295mm high.

I can see some slick replacement panels being made by "modders" with how simply there are removed

Have to say I am impressed with the engineering behind it. Looks like they have made some improvements regarding noise, vibrations, fans, cooling.

I read somewhere yesterday, not sure where, that the PS5 has replaceable SSD for easy upgrade of storage. Same as PS4 with the HDD.
That video shows integrated SSD.

Edit. My bad. It says upgradable storage, not replaceable.

It has an expansion port for extra SSDs but the original SSD is not replaceable (at least not easily). The expansion port is one of the first things you see after he pops off the side panels.

I think they said ssd slot for additional drive, not replacement. Saying that, i might have missed it in that vid where the extra ssd goes.

Looks excellent anyway, the noise and heat reduction looks to be great, to on the 19th November!!

Bit off topic here, but reading the twitter comments, the most frequent word I am seeing to describe this is 'thiccc'.

Is this a thing now? If being in mid-30s means I find this kind of thing stupid then I wish I had been this age my entire life.

Its so huge - and odd that you need a stand now even if in the horizontal.

Looking forward to using it - I like its so modular and potentially reparable - but I'm still not liking the looks - if every box on your shelf looked randomly shaped like this the tv area would be a right zoo.
My hope is that someone will make third party clipon replacement faceplates, that will make it squarer looking to fit in with everything else on the shelf.

The more I see of it, the more I like it.
The Playstation designs are definitely something that grow on me even though the PS4 was probably the least interesting of the lot.

Smart use of the stand to work for both horizontal as well as vertical.

I like companies pushing the envelope in terms of their industrial design, especially in era where most companies are happy enough to play it safe or tweak their existing designs.

I'd put it on a par with Apple bringing out their candy coloured iMacs in the 90s. They've dated pretty terribly but at least they dared to do something different and helped to push computer design away the beige boxes they had been for the previous decade or so.
