I've only been asked for details in pubs and restaurants.

I’ve no idea if the cafe/ restaurant in question is the Bean Town but I agree with you I pass it often and the outside seating area has been packed with people over the past month (prior to it closing)
I would not have seen that as being necessarily careless as it was outdoors; though not something I would have been comfortable doing myself.

Most cafes are operating as "uncontrolled environments" under the guidelines so are not required to take contact details. However, the quid pro quo of this is that all customers should be seated 2+ metres apart unless "close family or friends" - that includes 2m between tables as well.

It's really too closely packed outside there. Also, you're right on top of a table when you're in the queue. In possibly unrelated news, St. Catherine's Primary School also had a case last week.

On their facebook ........... Sep 26th ......... "Hello to our neighbours, friends and customers. As many of you already know, we have been closed for the past week due to advice from the HSE. We have been delayed in putting up a message as we were awaiting more information. We would like to update everyone now. We have had several staff members test positive for the coronavirus. They are doing well and are recovering just fine. We are now taking the steps to improve our cafe & service so we may prevent this from happening again. We plan on reopening for Monday, October 5th. It's been quite a stressful week, but we have received a tremendous amount of support and goodwill, and we thank you for that! It really keeps us going. We look forward to seeing everyone soon and providing the best sandwiches & coffee in Cork City!"

It's places like that have us wondering what the future holds ........ from posts here it's clear they weren't acting responsibly. Patrons are also to blame IMO.

I wouldn’t wish it on any business and I hope the business and their staff make a full recovery
I think as their seating was outside many may have been lured into a false sense of security
Also just to confirm that it is speculation there is nothing to say that it was this cafe that led to 50+ cases
There are plenty of other cafes/ restaurants that have had to close because of case
On the BeanTowns Facebook page they said that some of their staff tested positive, nothing about any customers so hopefully the spread was contained

Last night, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn appealed for people to cut down on their number of social contacts after it was revealed that 57 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Cork have been linked to a cáfe-restaurant where a number of people from different households socialised - From Echo

Well lots of UCC fixtures in different sporting codes are off for the foreseeable future and when I asked a staff member involved in the sports that was his answer. If it’s not true, I’ll stand corrected but ask is their any reason as to why several teams from varying levels, leagues and codes are all not playing this week or next when they competed last week?
