I just went 0771234... etc until it accepted however many digits is required.

I did but didn't work on the mobile, on the Laptop yes, you get to another screen and it's a check box to ask are you okay with being contacted with news about it?

Mate of mine got told to call into the GameStop he ordered his PS5 from as they're no longer communicating over text.

He tried ringing and they were vague about it and continued to say come in and talk to the staff about it.

Hes going in today to find out the story with it, he pre-ordered a few months ago when they were taking interest.

Course we do, it's on the front of the console in the black area towards the bottom (vertical) / left (horizontal). There's two buttons on the normal version (left is power, right is disk eject), and obviously only one on the digital version.

If anything the buttons are far more obvious than on the PS4 and especially the Pro.

I have had the PS4 since launch and I'm still not sure which button is which

I go to press a button and wonder "Hmmm does this button put it on standby or eject?" :O One just those things, just can't figure it out. Maybe as I have it on a Vertical stand or maybe it's because I'm thick :P

Just found out today that 'launch window' for Sony could be anywhere before 6 months after launch so might not even get to play R&C until next April

Yes, Smyths pre-order.

Thankfully I couldn't actually order it in Gamestop that day. Initially I thought Gamestop and I'd trade the PS4 Pro against the PS5 in a one of those console launch deals but it seems I may have been lucky on both fronts because it looks like Gamestop are not doing a deal for a PS4 Pro trade in against the PS5.
