Ordered the young lad the Star wars At-At for christmas over the weekend, couldn't believe the price at €150 odd... its not even that big when constructed. He's mad into the star wars lego though, just a shame to get anything decent you've to pay through the nose.

Got a different one on Amazon last year for £40 plus parcel motel charge which is a bit less than €100 but might give this one a try. Think Aldi do one too or is that only wine?

Got one of these last year for one of the kids, given how ridiculously priced their stuff is, €26 which is what they are here now is actually very good value.

Not to sound righteous or anything but alot of these are aload of tat at a huge mark up as they have put it in a fancy box. Some of the chocolate ones have less chocolate than a normal bar of chocolate!!

A couple of years ago we bought some advent calender on a rope with small bags.

I mostly fill them up, We put in what we want, I get good decent chocolate and some small gifts from the euro shop, But things that would be useful on the run up to Christmas.

Its also more sustainable, less waste and things you would actually use.

Agree some of the chocolate ones are a rip off but a lot including the Rituals are good value, good sized gifts each day. They're all/or about introducing people to the brand and stuff they may never buy in full sized.

I really like those little bags. I think I'd find it hard and expensive filling them, that's just the way I am though.
I do agree that over the last few years especially all these companies have jumped on the bandwagon. I cant comment on the products as the only one I got before aside from the chocolate ones was a lego one which was great for my lad.
For me I love the old fashioned standard chocolate ones with the picture on the inside of the card. Theres a certain smell you get from them and the nostalgia and memories that come with it is priceless.

I get your point and I agree with some of it but my little one is lego mad and I know it will be a big hit and each piece will be used and played with.

We got the Lego ones for a few years. 3 boys here, they took turns opening a door each day. Got to the point though where we were getting the same stuff each year. And we've loads of Christmas Lego now. Instead, now that they're a bit older, they get a fancy chocolate one each, as in a €5 one instead of the fake chocolate €1 ones. Lindt, Reeses, Hershey's, that kind of thing.

Has anyone seen the Cadburys one yet? I saw that Dunnes have Lindt ones, and also Lindt chocolate Santa's. I usually get the kids the Aldi calendars but going "upmarket"

with Cadburys this year and Lego Friends. I haven't tried Tesco yet.
