Before taking medical leave, Caputo had insisted that the upcoming ad campaign should be viewed as a bipartisan priority, referencing Democrats’ earlier calls for the administration to communicate more about Covid-19. “I'm not doing anything more than what the Democrats asked for. I'm not doing anything more than what the president asked of me,” Caputo said in his Sept. 13 Facebook Live video. “As God as my witness, I am not stopping.”source

Are they just concern trolling in case their fear mongering for votes might be disputed rather than a genuine concern for the health of the American people? Did the Democrats not ask for the administration to communicate more?

What criteria are you using to gauge the effectiveness of the Trump administrations response to COVID and what country are you comparing them to? You talk about immense failures and tens of thousands so you obviously have data points to work with, would you share them with us? Your criticism to date is nothing more that the equivalent of shouting "orange man bad", this is not very constructive. If you don't have a valid means to evaluate the decisions taken by the Trump administration then you need to wait until the virus has run its course to properly evaluate the leaders response.

They're a nation that doesn't do universal healthcare, and they're a nation that is all about personal freedom and rights. The entire Western world has a general attitude to this stuff that isn't compatible with dealing with a pandemic. Not everyone, but enough.
Carfacemandog wrote: » If this were the case then the US performance during N1H1 (relative to the rest of the world) would have been similar to covid it has been during covid. Except it wasn't, they performed far better, reacted better, appeared more prepared, and didn't have a head of state publicly encouraging activities that would facilitate it's spread. They also left measures in place for similar events in future, which were largely dismantled by the Trump administration prior to covid-19 hitting.

It's absurd to compare the two. H1N1 was influenza. COVID-19 is viral pneumonia. What would have happened if Trump had not put the travel restrictions in place in time? We can't say for sure but Dr. Fauci sure believes that the death rate would very likely have been far greater (many of the models predicted millions would die let's not forget). Anti-Trumpers like to say that many people still came in as if this negates the fact that millions were prevented from coming in but it of course does not. It's an absurdity to suggest as much.

Just 5% positive and that had been falling steadily. 0.04% of population in this state has died as numbers of cases as consequence of more testing rise, but with few hospitalisations and tiny number of deaths. You would need to be pretty desperate to try and attribute political blame in either instance.
