FE1Rookie wrote: » Ah here lads as rubbish a feeling it is, if ye fail the exam just resit it in March. What's the rush? Postponing all 8 exams just for a few people that failed is ridiculous. Do ye not think of how that'll mess things up delaying the inevitable with 1. the virus and 2. people doing the hybrid. Like sorry but a solid 80% of people who signed this petition will end up passing and will not care less about delaying the Oct sitting. It's very self centered to not even consider those who start in December for the hybrid. It's reckless and simply asking for trouble with the coronavirus (we should be grateful we can sit them at all physically in October please god. lets not tempt fate). Another point is a lot of people will have rightly made arrangements to get time off work, booked hotels and train tickets for the October exams. Obviously some people will have waited, like myself, to see where the venue is etc. Either way I've had to book time off and g'luck getting it moved to Novemeber for me. If ya get 40%+ then just submit it for a recheck, forget about it, and focus on the exams you're planning to sit the following week. If ya got less than 40% then you obviously didn't do enough work to pass it and you'll need more than a month between the 28th of Sep and this imaginary November sitting to raise your grade by 11 marks more in order to pass. Altogether there is no harm just sitting it in March if you fail, you'll have a hell of a lot more time to see where you went wrong and how to get your grade up by that amount. If that doesn't resonate with you then think about how messy this has all been ever since March because one exam was delayed. ONE. Lets not even entertain postponing EIGHT exams. Next thing you'll know the very same people will be moaning about how long these results are taking. They certainly won't have it done in time for Xmas. Most likely it would end up being January when you find out - and we do this all over again but much worse because it's all 8 exams instead of 1.

Even if they emailed people their results one by one as they are corrected. If you dont try you wont know. This whole thing has been a **** show from start to finish and everyones anxiety is not the better of it.

Lawlaw12 wrote: » Have you looked at the petition? It suggests 3 options which include (1) releasing results earlier or (2) an additional sitting in November for anyone who failed in August (this sitting would not affect anyone else or delay anyone else's exams). I don’t know who made this petition, but I assume the majority of people who signed it want either of those two options and not the alternative option of postponing the whole October set. It don't think it is selfish at all to want a fair opportunity to repeat an exam that we registered to sit in March and the law society took 5 months to reschedule. It has already been stated here that a lot of candidates do not have the opportunity to repeat in March 2021. We have deadlines in our training contracts or have a cap on the number of sittings allowed under our contracts, October 2020 being the last sitting available to us. So no, we will not “just resit it in March”. And it is not self-centred and inconsiderate of those starting the hybrid in December, as an additional sitting of Tort/ EU in November would not affect them in the October sitting, nor would releasing the August results earlier? You have posted here previously saying that you are in no rush to sit get them finished, and that is fine, but please be considerate of the circumstances in which other people are sitting these exams. For people like you who are still early on in their FE1's and are not in a rush to get the exams finished you may not understand that a lot of us are seriously affected by this and are being left at risk of losing our Training Contracts if we have not passed Tort and EU in August. You do not know the situations of everyone sitting these exams, so please stop posting calling people selfish just because this is not effecting you the way it is effecting other people.
FE1Rookie wrote: » OK ill bite. First off I have to say, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. That petition does not present actionable solutions. It presents a set of wishes. Number 1, is magically bring forward the results - nowhere do they suggest HOW the law society will manage to do so. This "suggestion" assumes that the law society isn't doing its best already, which is quite a wild claim. Number 2 then is an extra sitting in November. Why? You can do it in March, its going to count as another sitting on its own then which will work against some peoples TC clauses. If you got sub-40 in Tort then how do you expect to up your grade by at least 11 marks in less than a month after the normal October sitting. You have contradicted yourself here. If there is a November sitting for those who failed Tort then it's a sitting of its own and will put people over their cap as you quite rightly pointed out.. If you have been one of the people who applied in March then you had 5 months to study and I'm sorry but you should be passing it if you've got that mountain of time to do 1 exam. You are quite wrong about this not affecting those starting the hybrid. If they have failed, and go to resit in November they will not get their result in time for the hybrid, which is the problem we LITERALLY JUST HAD where they had to expedite results for a select few, and left the rest for almost a month later. So as I said in my OC, January the earliest for everyone who is doing this imaginary Nov sitting but is not doing the hybrid. And then what happens? Another bloody petition.

Over the next two sittings, which of the above would people advise to leave until next March, I have most the ground work done in EU so I would prefer to get that done this October. I don’t want to leave myself with a ridiculously hard exam to sit for the first time in mar ch? Any words of wisdom hugely appreciated !
