Flight sim 2020 - which PC

new here.

i used to be on flight sim 2000, using roger wilko etc. back in the day but fell out of interest in it around 2005. looking at the promo for the new one and it looks incredible. i am going to buy a proper PC just to play it and want something that can handle the full graphics. anyone got any recommendations of which pc to get for it? and any other peripherals such as flight yoke. am happy to pay a bit more for the best gear.

I'd be interested to know a decent PC to run this as well. I see they have some minimum requirements on the MS FS page - https://www.xbox.com/en-IE/games/microsoft-flight-simulator

It's not for me....for my uncle! He loves flight sim and is eager to play this. Budget-wise....not sure, but he's looking to upgrade his main desktop anyway, so I suppose something that will allow him to play this as smoothly as possible.

You could easily sink 3K into a machine for this bad boy. It's not only the tower but a monitor as well.

I bought this on advice from a dear friend to run XP11 & I’ve a heap of add ons from Ciano & soon to get his Helipads & I’m daily hitting 70-90 frames per second. Monitor included.

We'll see but I think you'll need something better than that for FS 2020. Defo a better Graphics Card, and perhaps a better CPU too, time will tell.

That machine hits the recommended specs so looks fine... but of course depends on your setup.

I'm going to wait for a while before buying a PC, these are all Alpha releases so far.
I do think that to get the most out of it you should get as good a PC as you can afford.
There is going to be some new Graphics cards out early next year that far surpass what is currently on offer, so I am told by PC builders and that may help reduce the price of current ones to more affordable levels.
Ultimately PC hardware never stays current but if you get a decent spec first day you will have it a lot longer before needing to upgrade.

The new Graphics Cards are out in the Nov timeframe fyi, both Big Navi from AMD and the 3000's series from Nvidia!

Was obsessed with flight sims as a kid. Had all the microprose games, secret weapons of the Luftwaffe, the janes series and of course a few FS.
My last upgrade was a GeForce 3. Gave up when the Xbox 360 came out and started using macs for college, work. I reckon this will pull me back into pc gaming. That and DCS, which I’ve been watching for years.

The VR integration is what’s really pulling me in though. I’ve absolutely no knowledge of the state of computing now. None. I only heard of PC specialists yesterday. And I know there’s new cards coming soon. So I’ll be plaguing people for advice. I take it the likes of Alienware are still massively overpriced, but by how much % wise in general?

I'm running it on an overclocked FX8350 from 2012, with a Radeon RX570 all at 2560x1440, the game runs okish but is choppy. It's enough to hold me over until the Zen3 chips and new graphics cards are announced.

Take a look at this and try their tuned settings, looks as good as high end preset but a few affects lowered but visually the same, my rig was doing very well anyways but its doing even better with these settings.

Do not buy a pc!! build your own you will save money and if there are ever any issues you will be able to fix them,
