I just got quoted €1,370 by AIG and Allianz wouldn't quote me because of the claim. Looks like I'll be stuck with 123 for another couple of years.

Why would you repay the claim? Isn't that what we have insurance for. And even after repaying it you are still being punished by other providers so pointless repaying it in my books.

I debated at the time whether to settle privately but went through insurance to avoid any surprises later on ( probably over thinking it, and on advice of work colleague), on the basis as I understood it that it wouldn’t count as a claim. Then I learned that even informing the insurer of the incident counts as a claim. I wasn’t expecting to see the amount listed on my no claims bonus statement but it’s still there so you’re right, from that perspective I should have just let them pay.

However, my premium went down after this with RSA/123.ie, from 750 down to about 450 (for an 09 A6 avant).

I agree it’s a hard one to swallow RE other insurers but the pricing I got from 123 since was much better afterwards till I got the A7. I got a bit of a surprise with that, but I was told last year that 123s quote wasn’t that bad for this even disregarding the claim.

Notifying your insurer of an incident is not a claim. It only becomes one if money is paid or due to be paid on liability. It's more likely alternative insurers are assessing the accident, which needs to be declared, whether you involve insurance or not

Try AIG seem to be one of the cheapest at the mo :-)

I am a woman who shaves daily, have just changed to its4women for the second time in 4 years. Its all about the price & policy conditions, not the name of the company. Also Its4women doesn't appear on the disk you attach to the windscreen

You should really come sub €400 with your bonuses and experience if you look at other people's quotes here.

I found that clicking refresh/back button as well as bad internet connection can up premium by €100 with AIG. Maybe they're trying to prevent fiddling with input data.

New car policy, full no claims on a commercial policy in my name and same as a named driver, no points, comprehensive cover, 171 Auris Hybrid.
Aviva wouldn't quote, even though I'm a named driver with them.
RSA through 123, €740.
Liberty online quote €730 taking into account named driver experience in a
car , when I told them during a follow up call, I had a commercial policy, it increased to €1760.
Axa €370, increased to €440 with NCB protection and towing, I have the van insured with them.

Tried all of the other large places (BOI, blue, axa, kennco etc.), nobody offered under €1,700.

I went with Liberty, quote came out to €1,290 but got it down to €1,200. This was after adding a parent as a named driver. Quite happy with that

Good luck all those novices out there looking for insurance It's not fun ringing around and waiting only for the insurer to tell you it's gonna be €5k but it pays to shop around.

Same car, just received my renewal quote from Liberty of €995 (TPFT) with a parent as a named driver.. This doesn't seem too bad compared to some others here but I'll still spend one of the days getting quotes. Does anyone know specifically who I should contact?

I'll update this post as I get around to receiving quotes.

Have heard good things from AIG this year but when I tried to get a quote online, it didn't provide me with one. I'd really appreciate it if we can finally get to a stage where you don't have to spend the best part of a day chatting with sales agents

Not really no. There are some insurers arent interested but there are still plenty of others that will quote. Im in the process of buying a 2003 and have gotten what I consider to be reasonable quotes on it with Aviva
