youd have thought some of the money the sellers obviously have or had at some stage could have been used for an interior designer,

leather sofas and tiles everywhere seems to be the standard choice, along with a bar :rolleyes:

Well, asking prices are all we have to search by when houses are for sale.

Sure there have always been people with no taste. What can you do.

I also love the EA BS of "a unique and creative bespoke interior where no expense has been spared"...... sure, I'm sure all of that was very expensive in the 1980's because that looks like the last time money was spent on decor in that place.

If you look closely the second one has had 750k knocked off the original asking price ,and more to follow I would expect.
I assume if you can afford the Killiney home the heating bill of of a couple of grand a month in winter would not be off putting
It actually reminded me of the Addams family home

Its actually 3 apartments
However judging by the size and standards of the kitchens cooking is not high on the agenda of the previous owner

Some of the floors look normal but the other floors are definitely some sort of swingers sex palace thing.

I'd say that place lights up like a christmas tree if you went through it with a black light, all that fabric on the walls and those curtains!

Of course, owning big old houses costs (a lot of) money, but at least theres land there, and its charming.

I'm not saying either are perfect options, but they'd have a lot more appeal to me than that McMansion in Dundrum.

Fully suspect that the Triplex apartment was owner occupied. They had to dial down their own taste for the rental units.

Honestly I don't think we're far off a mega size tech company announcing job losses, but, as with AirBnb, it will probably be somewhat hidden as they discount layoffs of contractors. The proportion of the S&P500 made up of the 5 mega tech stocks went from around 16% early last year to 24% right now, it doesn't really make sense and seems like investors are just speculating with these companies considering there are cut backs and job losses in most sectors of the economy and mega tech companies are essentially data and advertisement companies so rely on the other sectors for their revenue.

Really? You know its basically part of an estate (of mansions) built shortly enough before the crash. They're all faux period properties - the interiors etc are just styled to look old but IMO the results are chintzy.

The garden is nice, expensively done no doubt, but for me the house is just too inauthentic. I don't dislike modern houses, but I like them to try to actually be modern.

Considering it is in the same bracket as the Dundrum and Castleknock house, I would say it is good value by comparison as to what is on offer for that price!

The Castleknock house though, that's another level; looks like it wanted to be a private plastic surgery/botox clinic but changed its mind half way through the build to almost some type of Tony Soprano family home.

LinkedIn are owned by Microsoft so indirectly you could call it a mega-tech layoff.

6% worldwide affecting just sales staff though, so it seems quite targeted. And the big tech companies do rounds of layoffs every year where the low performers are cut, it generally doesn't make the news.

It's all relative though, right? Most people here will never be able to buy a house that expensive, so when you look at it through the lens of a "normal" person it looks great and I doubt anyone would turn their nose up if it were offered to them for the price of a 4 bed semi!

But, if I had 2.2 million to spend on a house, and was wealthy enough to run a house like that, a faux-period mcmansion is not what I'd buy.

Its all location people that why somes areas are higher. I have seen 2 houses in the same estate one had nothing done to it, the other had an attic extension, a kitchen extension, underfloor heating, bathrooms done up to the nines, a side extension, porch extension and a shomra room out the back. The back was all decked out in expensive granite stone and both were up for sale at the same time and the difference in price was 15k even with all of the work above done. Someone had pumped easily 150k in and they only got 1/10th back. So location is probably the biggest driver of price after demand

It's pretty small house and the location, while near the N11, is pretty much near nothing else.

both are good ways to get to where your going but its still not in a great location if your working in Dublin your talking at least 45 minutes in the morning, its also pretty small
